I hate to say it, but this thread title reminds of the year after JVG left when people were saying we need to keep all that defensive mindedness.

Its true, we didnt loose it right away, but over time we did.

IMO, you only keep a system (whether defensive or offensive) when it is being supported and promoted from within. A system needs constant reinforcement. Unless our next coach was one of RA's assistants or a Princeton advocate, you can be sure that our offensive strategy will change.

You act like the NBA playoffs aren't rigged against teams like Adelman's that de-emphasize superstars and individual play.

i don't need to act like someone else pretend to know better. the factor tells all things. you can win titles through many ways. why do we have to stick with adelman's system? Does his system prove to be the best? NO, NO, NO.

No idea what you just said, what "factor"??

I was just saying your question is asinine, kinda like saying "How many teams have won a title with LeBron James as their starting 3? None, good luck ever winning with him, lol!"

Anyway, I'll answer your stupid question:

    Exactly! LOL

1st we wanted to KEEP THE DEFENSIVE Philosophy
now. . it is about the Offense

Any new coach will put in HIS PHILOSOPHY [or Morey's]
Let's just hope it is a good one!

if don't know, just ask. it won't hurt you when you open your mouth. you will get hurt when you turn a$$ hole open.

The factor: there are many ways to be a champion. limiting yourself to one approach shows your stupidity nothing else.

btw, why did you pull out red and celtics? are you trying to tell me they played Princeton offense to win those titles?

I PREFER a defensive emphasis from the coach.

I don't think you have to convince NBA players to focus on offense...I think that's a given. I do think, however, you have to motivate towards defense.

I remember how everyone said "we can't lose the defensive philosophy!" when JVG left. :)

You can 'focus' on it all you want; that doesn't mean you'll be good at it. Like #4 in the league good with no all-stars.

Yeah, I think same as everybody, we are all thinking back to the end of the JVG era, because I remember the Rockets were still top 5 in defense but implementing (or trying to implement) Adelman's system. Now we've gone completely the other way.

I hear what you're saying. I guess I'm saying I think it's easier to coach guys around offense than it is to get real defensive effort for 82 nights a year. Not taking anything away from Rick, by saying that.

I don't think it's easier at all. It's a lot easier to make someone rotate defensively in a certain way or help defend, than it is to make someone put the ball in the basket efficiently.

Yes, yes they did. The guy who labeled the offense, Pete Carril, has said so himself.

Learn something about basketball before opening your mouth next time.

the more you wrote, the funnier you became.

here is the link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princeton_offense, to show you what is the princeton offense and who started and who mastered it.

we do have Bernard "Red" Sarachek in history who has something to do with the princeton offense. Although he has "red" in his name, it doesn't mean he is famous red auerbach. auerbach has nothing to do with princeton offense. he did implement fast break in NBA. the fast break is completely different from princeton offense as you can see from the definition of princeton offense.

do you want to know red auerbach? here is the link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Auerbach

btw, you can keep dragging red auerbach to princeton offense. if you believe this is red auerbach offense, how does the offense become princeton offense instead celtics offense or auerbach offense as auerbach is way more famous than carril. some plays may looks like same or carril modified auerbach's some plays to create his princeton offense. if you call every offense that draws similar plays as princeton offense, then you win the argument. but i would laugh if someone call utah jazz' offense a princeton offense. i saw jarry sloan drew a lot of backdoor cut plays.
