A SnT scenario involing Asik, Lee and Hayes would be interesting.

The only one of those guys I think might retire a Rocket is Yao, and that's because he might never play another game.

From the way Morey sounded in a recent interview, about "glue or chemistry players". I think anything over 4 mill, Chuck is as good as gone. I don't think Morey values him as much, without a core(franchise players), than what people here on the board do.

I think Thibs woud drool at the opportunity to land both Chuck and Lee. He probably dreams about this all the time lol.

I'd rather keep them both though. Those two guys are great players to have on the team, and they don't cost much.

I would rather get rid of Scola, while adding more Yao/Thabeet, than lose both Hayes and Lee. I feel an upgrade at SF is far more necessary than Scola's offensive presence. We need a solid defender to pair with K Martin at the wing spots. Lee would be perfect if he had some more size. I think Gerald Wallace would've been great, but have my eyes firmly on Tayshaun Prince and Andre Iguodala. I would trade a LOT to be able to pair Iggy with Martin, just seems like a perfect combination to me.

Hayes, Thabeet, Yao, Patterson, Hill is a great big man rotation with both youth and experience.

I just hope we don't lose Hayes for a little more money than the stats machine is suggesting we should pay. He is a fantastic player for Hill, Patterson and THabeet to learn from and you can't put a price on that.

I disagree. I think one should be careful of overrating the "teaching" aspect of a player. How much did Budinger learn from Shane? Courtney? Martin? I don't think you really saw drastic improvements in any player that you could accredit to Shane. I think it's the same situation with Hayes. He's a great role player, but I don't want to overpay him with the belief he brings an added value as a teacher for our young guys.

I would prefer looking to deal Scola as well, but in the trade market it isn't always about who you prefer to trade but what deal makes the most sense. Chicago wouldn't be interested in Scola (PF logjam, big contract when they have Boozer) -- but I bet they'd like to add Hayes/Lee to the mix.

I feel Morey do not want to pay Hayes either after Collison comments. I hope I am wrong because leader that wants to be here is of value even to rebuilding team. I think many teams will be interested in Chuck, including Phoenix Suns. I read from beat writer Suns was looking at Chuck.

I think Yao will sign with the bulls. Yao has a good relationship with TT.

The OP is not advocating to trade him, therefore it doesn't belong in the random trade thread imo.

WE already know the Bulls have interest in Lee. Especially if Brewer and Bogans have a poor playoff showing. If they also want Hayes, then we are in a good position to get someone substantial back.

Asik and picks does sound nice

chicago has some ridiculously massive contracts.. Boozer, Deng, and Noah are all making 10-15m with increases every year. Rose is coming up on a contract year and is currently making 6m, hes gonna get the max. add that up with those other contracts and the bulls are pretty strapped financially..

how is he a scrub? Just because he isn't a flashy crazy athletic player does not mean he's a scrub. Hayes is a solid defender and he gives his best night in and night out. You can't ask for more than that. You can always wish for a big athletic Center but those are hard to come by. You don't replace Chuck with a big man that don't even bring half the energy and production as Chuck.

Even though he is 6'6, his energy and heart simply makes up for the lost size. He is an elite post defender and he has work on his offensive game to become a threat. He gets you rebounds, set up plays for teammates, make smart passes, set good screens, plays incredibly hard, play great discipline defense, doesn't back down from anyone, and he is a competitor. Those traits are hard to find from a center today in the league. You won't know how important he is until you lose him.

Many people on this board prefers a center that is long, plays above the rim and are walking highlight reels. Those guys are fun to watch. But Chuck brings much more to the table than most of the centers in the NBA. Instead of highlight reel weakside blocks, he strips the ball from his opponent before they even have a chance to shoot the ball. But those plays wont get him into the highlight reel or drawing charges. Thats why some people on here still doesn't appreciate him.

Unless we can get a very good center that can bring as much as Chuck to the table, I prefer Hayes right now than any other centers in the league that just long, athletic and a bonehead.

I agree. You may have missed the point of my post...?

FWIW, Patterson should be in front of Jordan going forward.

The Bulls would be insane to give up Asik or to give Gibson's minutes to Chuck considering both their salaries combined are going to be less than his, not to mention they're younger and just as good.

First, comparing Jordan Hill...or any other potential young starting Rockets C/PF...to the current version of Chuck Hayes is not an accurate comparison.

The true comparison is the Chuck Hayes that shot 48% from the FT line (what an adventure that was), committed personal fouls at a HoF per minute rate, struggled scoring in a gym by himself and was essentially "shielded" in a JVG defensive scheme that managed to make even Kelvin Cato look good next to Yao Ming.

Hayes has worked hard enough to shed the "scrub" label. But...

The future success of the Rockets is hardly syncronized to whether or not Hayes is on the roster. If the Rockets don't make upgrading the C position Priority One"...the rest of the roster...particularly the rotational slots...is an irrelevant conversation.

If the Bulls added Chuck Hayes to what is already the best defensive team in the league, they would become impossible to score against. I think the addition of Chuck Hayes would vault them into being the team to beat for the championship.

Well Shane was there from the time Bud started, so I don't see how you could really know that. Players pick up things here and there from different sources and it's not far-fetched to think that Shane is a great influence. Martin said he picked up his ability to draw fouls from Musselman. No one would have seen that coming, but I'd say it's better to surround players with good influences than to just throw a bunch of young guys together - I think that model has failed more often than not.
