Anyone else think Hayes will move to the Bulls if we don't pay him well?

Thibodeau knows Chuck and I think he even gave him a vote for DPOY.

Bulls are the #1 seed, they have Noah, Boozer and Gibson. Hayes would be an excellent addition to their frontcourt, especially in the East.

I'm really worried about losing Chuck, and everytime I think about it, I feel like the Bulls are going to snag him away.

Any other teams who would be interested in him?

Well if that heppens it gonna have to be a sign-and-trade, or the Bull sign him to something ridiculous like 10M a year. There's no way we let CHuck go for free.

Hard to tell with the impending CBA, but I guarantee you that he will get a significant offer from someone.

(He is every bit as good as many of the C's in the league, although most wouldn't have you believe it on here.)

We better be prepared to pay full MLE type money...

The problem is that Les will do everything to avoid the LT.

Surely theyd try to shore up their wing positions before trying to nab a backup PF/C in free agency.

I can see the Bulls being extremely interested in him. Of course, I can see Orlando, Miami, NY, and Lakers all wanting him too. But Chicago makes a lot of sense. And yes, he is better than half the starting centers in the NBA right now. And yes, we need to re-sign him.

Better than half the starting centers.
Better than half the starting power forwards.
Better than 95% of the backup centers and power forwards.

They have Asik and Noah, why would they want Hayes?

To slip into a backup PF/C role and maybe trade Taj Gibson for an upgrade at the wing spots?

I just have a very strong feeling Bulls will go after him.

it would be easier for them to just sign a wing player, than to sign hayes and trade gibson.

Why wouldn't they just go straight for wing upgrade, instead of having to wait on a Hayes transaction and waiting ont he Rockets before they can upgrade while other teams sign or trade for the better options?

Hayes is still a 6'6" scrub. His stats are inflated by Adelman's system and the abnormality of Rockets.

no one needs a center more than us. Hayes will be a Rocket, forever.

Regarding Hayes' contract, I understand Morey's thinking that he doesn't want to overpay and hamstring the team. But what if we find a compromise and give him long-term security? So the total value of the contract will be high, but stretched out over a high number of years...what matters to the cap situation is the per-year value of the contract...I think Hayes is the type of player that will still be good far into his 30s.

How about something like 6 years, 4.5 million per year?

Some people seem to be confused about something. Chuck Hayes is an unrestricted free agent. The Rockets don't really have the option of 'not letting him go.' The only real complication for a team like the Bulls would be how much lattitude will the new CBA give them in free agency. If the CBA has a strict hard cap that stops contenders from offering Hayes a contract, he's probably ours (with some chance that we won't even be willing to surrender the cap-room for him). If there's still exceptions, I think he's gone. I think he'd be great in New York.

The new CBA almost certainly won't allow a contract that long. Even so, I think Morey would probably prefer paying high dollars on a short contract to paying low dollars on a long contract.

    Stats aside, he's no scrub.

Jordan Hill on the other hand is 6'11" and would give us some rim protection in the starting lineup. Patrick Patterson is 3" taller and plays much longer than Chuck.

Ask yourself why Rick would start Chuck, who you call a scrub, over a much taller and athletically gifted player?

I think it's because unlike you, Rick knows a thing or two about basketball.

No argument that Thibs might want 'The ChuckWagon'. However, how would Bulls pay for said same CW? With the old CBA they could not get it done; with the new one? C'mon.

So, an SnT. What do Bulls have that Rox want more than Hayes? Asik? More like Asik and _____?

Gee, give Chicago Hayes and Lee for anyone on their roster not named Noah or Rose? I just don't see this oh!curring.

show me the cap space they have to get it done. i don't see it. Chuck will return to Houston. It's where he wants to be and we have the money to resign him.
