Josh Pence(The Social Network) and Daniel Sunjata (Grey's Anatomy) join the cast. Pence is set to appear as a young Ras Al Ghul while Sunjata's character has yet to be revealed. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/09/josh-pence-in-the-dark-kn_n_846989.html?view=print http://www.hollywood.com/news/The_Dark_Knight_Rises_Adds_Greys_Anatomys_Daniel_Sunjata/7783487
Gary Oldman is my favorite actor. He's awesome. His turns in True Romance and The Fifth Element sold me on him. All of that said...he's a horrible liar. You'd think that an actor as talented as him could lie all day long.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard roles revealed. http://batman-news.com/2011/04/19/joseph-gordon-levitt-is-john-blake-marion-cotillard-is-miranda-tate-in-the-dark-knight-rises/ Spoiler
Spoiler Boo a lot less exotic than a lot of us were hoping for. Trying to build up more nobody characters as spotlight worthy. Between those two and Morgan Freeman that'll be maybe 30+ minutes of interaction for noncomic book mess.
That's terrible. I thought I would be more comfortable with those roles being unknown actors/actresses. I hate the fact Joseph and Marion feel like they're there for the sake of being there.
And yet we've all seen what happens when a director crams a movie with superheroes and villains. Good for Nolan going the other direction.
I doubt they signed on to simply be in it for the sake of being there. I'm sure they will have important roles opposite Wayne/Gordon. I don't mind Nolan going a bit astray from the source material as long as it helps the story and with these two actors...i'd imagine they will do just that.
Um. Just cause that's the part they are playing doesn't mean the part is just there. Can't she be under cover/alias? She can still be Liams daughter. And the police roll could be an amazing behind the scenes role that keeps gordon informed of the bat hunt. Or he could be the leader of the bat hunt.
My thoughts exactly. Liam Neeson had a different alias in Begins aside from Ras Al Ghul. I believe it was Henri Duckard From wiki:
Nolan is good at making up his own characters. His direction transcends fanboy-dom, because he is in his own right, a creative mind to the regular Batman storyline. The difference is his medium isn't a comic or graphic novel, its film. Just think of him as a writer developing an original story arc for a run of Batman comics. Like when Marvel relaunched with the Ultimate line. This is that. New stories loosely based on original characters...
In Batman Begins, the press releases stated that Ken Watanabe was Ra's al Ghul and Liam Neeson was Ducard. There's a chance they are playing characters in disguise.
Tom Hardy on set taking a picture with a fan. He's not in his Bane attire but you can see that he has added quite a bit of muscle since Inception. http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/04/21/the-dark-knight-rises-tom-hardy-bane/ Spoiler
His height just kills the image of what I think his character should look like. His acting ability and story better make up for it.
Admit it,.. in hindsight Batman Begins was a tad better movie. . . Both were awesome tho, and can't wait for the next.
I've seen it, my big fear is that he'll just duplicate that character here. Hope he does something much different but with the same presence.
No, it wasn't. The part in the end where Batman says those cheesy lines to Rachel before he flies was terrible. And it didn't feel like an epic movie as opposed to the Dark Knight.
