[Y! Sports - Woj] Melo Not A Superstar

If you're the reason (and you alone) that your team was almost able to beat one of the best teams in the league, you should be proud of your performance.

Woj shouldn't be ripping on Melo; if anything, he should be ripping on Melo's supporting cast.

Not saying Woj should do that either though. NY did the best with who they had on the bench.

Melo needs to get fired up though, at the team. Bill Walker went something like 0-11, yes?

That's 11 shots that Melo could have taken, even thrown up blindly. It still would have had a better chance at making it than anything Walker shot, haha.

 

Someone mentioned, on twitter, he is basically TMAC, good enough to have blame deflected off him.

 

The guy had 42 and 17, made the right play to a wide open Jeffries for what was supposed to be a lay-up...yet the guy decided to pass it to an 0-11 guy, and failed at that...Jeffries should be blasted, not Melo.

 

LOOK PEOPLE!!! Melo wasn't bashed for his performance. His performance was indeed great. But he is blasted by his comments after the game. Sure he played tremendously well, but what he said after the game is an issue. You will never see a superstar like Kobe, Lebron, Wade or Rose acts like that after a playoff lost.

It seems that Melo cared more about his stats than winning. If he's a true star, he wouldn't be please with losing no matter how many points he put up. I don't care if he scored 100 points, if he lost he should be disappointed at himself for not doing more to win.

True stars doesn't care about how many points they scored or what numbers they put up, all they care about is a W. Anything less than a W is a failure to them. But Melo doesn't see that because in his eyes, he did enough, put up great numbers and he's happy with that. All Melo had to say was I wish I did more to win, and yeah that would be a different story.

Melo is a gifted player but he just doesn't have that competitive drive like Kobe, Lebron or Rose etc. Im starting to believe that his stats are more important than winning. Plus that "Im tired" thing because he didn't chase down West.... I don't know what to say about that. I just know that any true superstars would NOT be satisfy with this lost. If anything he should be extremely disappointed because they lost a very close one.

 

I guess he was saying if he really cared about winning, Melo would be more focused on the loss instead of how happy he was about his performance. Gotta admit even Tmac showed more disapointment in losses than this guy.

 

BTW, Jeffries making that lousy play at the final possession should be expected because he is such a lousy player. KG was playing more in the passing lane than protecting the basket so he had a greater chance of making the layup than making the pass.

Jeffries should be Blasted as much as Melo but again, we should already expected that from him. KG is smart for knowing Jeffries would pass up on an easy playoff game winning layup to make a more difficult idiotic pass that KG was standing right there waiting for it to a player that went 0-11. I honestly dont know what was he thinking. I honestly think a 6 year old kid would make a better playoff game winning decision than Jeffries would. That is just pathetic.

Melo should be blasted for what he said and how he reacted after the game and Jeffries should be blasted for being an idiot.

 

The crazy thing is... Tmac actually cares more about winning than Melo. As much as Clutchfans blast on Tmac, the man cares a lot more about winning than stats like Melo.

 

melo has always showed little emotion in interviews. he's not the type of person to moap around after a loss. it's just his personality. while he was dropping 18 of the knicks 20 points during the 2nd half he was he was clapping to his teammates trying to get them fired up.

but of course everything melo does is scrutinized.

He doesn't have to act a certain way to please anybody, actions speak louder than words and he sure as hell played like a superstar.

 

Carmelo not hauling ass to foul Delonte West on the inbound at the end, then saying he was "too tired" to track him down, thats pretty lame.

Jeffries at least said they didnt see the play coming. Carmelo coulda said he got surprised and wasnt prepared. Saying hes "too tired" almost says he saw it develop but didnt put initiative to hustle.

Oddly enough Carmelo is usually a decent closer, so he just needs to get his head out his ass.

 

He should be blasted for passing to Jeffries. Apparently, he's the only cat on the planet who doesn't know the guy can't make a layup.

Yes, and in the final minutes he didn't man up and guard his man because he was tired. Also he passed the ball to Jeffries instead of taking the shot himself. When Lebron passes it to a good spot up shooter like Mo Williams that's one thing, but when you go and pass it to Jeffries who was being shadowed by Garnett of all people...

 

if melo would have took a 3 pointer over 2 defenders when they were only down 1, he would have been crucified by the media especially after his attempted game-winner in game 1.

then people would be saying "why did melo jack up that shot with 2 guys on him when jeffries was wide open down low?"

First off, it's already been said, but you're a ****tard. Let's talk basketball here for a minute, please... You're double teamed, and you see your big wide open under the basket. Why would you not pass to him? Sure, Garnett closed fast. That happens. Jeffries is a power forward in the NBA, the best basketball league in the world. You expect him to either draw the foul or make a ****ing lay-up. He makes a bad decision. It's Melo's fault? Get the **** outta here. And to that other gabroni saying, "Melo's the only guy in the league that doesn't know Jeffries can't make a lay-up." Seriously? In that spit-second that Melo had to decide to either pass to a wide open big under the basket or take an incredibly ill-advised three-pointer over the double, do you really think he's counting statistics in his head? Do you think if you were in the same situation you'd say, "Sure, I have a .03 percent chance of taking and making this terrible look, or I could pass to the guy who's been known as making bad decisions with the ball from time to time even though he's wide open under the basket, I should predict the future and know he's gonna mess up," you're a backseat coach. Dude had a great game, made the right decision in the clutch, quit being a ****.
