WTF? I was for the Adelman change however if you're gonna replace him with Mike Woodson why change at all? A FO/coaching disconnect with Adelman at the helm will still get better results than that same team coached by Woodson.
Id be pretty damn upset if we hired Woodson as well, but to be fair, you left off a couple players he DID help develop. I believe he's had Josh Smith since his rookie year and Woodson helped develop Smith from a mid-first round pick to a borderline all-star. You could make the case that Joe Johnson was on the verge of making the leap before he joined Atlanta anyway, but he also saw a significant spike in production after joining Woodson's team. And Woodson was the first coach that could get a handle on Jamal Crawford and transform him from a chucker to a valuable role player. Marvin Williams didn't work out for him, but Acie Law and Sheldon Williams just don't have NBA games and were bad picks by whoever drafted them (if Woodson picked them, bad on his part, but I don't blame him for them not turning into good players). Those Atlanta teams got significantly better as a whole each year as well, as evidenced by their improved record each year. All that being said, he's not the guy we need at all. Those teams kept improving, but he pretty much maxed them out last year and his lack of any real offensive system prevents his teams from going from good to elite IMO, and settling for 2nd round exits is not what we are striving for.
Josh Smith is a good player but he hasn't gotten any better since his 3rd year. Its like he is leveled out.
Relax, people. I don't want Woodson to be the next Rockets coach either, but Morey said they were going to have a "wide open process". They're just doing their due diligence, looking at everybody that's out there. I seriously doubt Woodson is actually one of the guy's the high on the Rockets list. He'd have to have a great interview to get consideration down the road.

Damn, now I'm confused again. I thought you and I said in the CXbby thread that we want to tank like Petrie did when the Maloofs fired Adelman? How else are we going to get to 15 wins to land a Tyreke Evans, and keep sucking enough to still land a Cousins. I thought we agreed on that in the CXbby thread. You're right, if you are going to hire a real coach, we might as well have kept Adelman.
That's the rub. If the Rockets hire Woodson, that probably means that Les wanted to tank, but Rick wouldn't do it. We shall see.
Morey is going to hire a coach that shares his vision. Someone mentioned that Atlanta botched a lot of drafts - well then that's a good thing Morey does the personnel moves. Adelman was an awesome coach, but he and Morey were not on the same page. Morey had to make trades to force Adelman's hands. And you know what, Morey was Right more often than not.... "Budinger (as a starter) and Lee" were Better than "Battier / Budinger". "Brooks (as a starter) and Lowry" were better than "Alston / Brooks" "Lowry (as a starter) and Drogic" were better than "Brooks / Lowry" Every one of those situations forced Adelman's hands. And there have been a few people that stated Adelman was very upset at certain moves. No question Adelman can coach, but it seems that Morey and Adelman were fighting on whose vision was going to be put on the floor. It's been said that Morey doesn't tell his coaches who to play; he just forces their hands via trade. And Adelman didn't like "THAT"..... Coach and GM need to be on the same page.....
Is he HORRible or HIREable???? It could be worse, at least it's not Jerry Sloan or something. Sloan is simply an over-hyped Adelman... lot's of wins and no titles And Houston is just the perfect place for Woodson to rack up a lot of wins and no titles. #TheCircleofLife
...but it is kind of funny they contact him after he publicly signalled his interest with this line: "I think it's a team that you add a piece or two here or there and you got a chance to compete in the West." Wouldn't this be closer to what Adelman wanted to do in terms of winning? Difference in philosophy?
