JVG's contract expired. While JVG took a break (i.e., working for TNT during the playoffs), Les hired Adelman.

JVG didn't take a break because he wanted to.

morey said at the conference and again at the interview with h-town radio stations that eveything is euqal when considering the next coach. his words was the answer for a question whether they will look for someone who is more familiar with ra's offense system due to the success of ra's system.

Alright too all you idiots that are saying we shouldn't have fired adelman:
We are rebuilding. Coach Adelman is a win-now coach and he didn't want to go that way. Everyone is complaining about being mediocre and now when we start to play for the future, everyone is against the organizations decision...

Hm-m-m? Sikma's comments make it seem like he sees his interview as having a foregone conclusion. Maybe a misread, but when you talk about gaining the experience of going through the process, it doesn't sound very confident to me. That just may be that he's acknowledging the predispostion of a team on the "cusp" (you may agree or not) of success to not pick a candidate without some head coaching experience under his belt.

Turner's agent's comments are pretty thought-provoking. There's only 2 reasons I can think of for not wanting to "explain" such a decision. Either you already have other options on the table, or in mind... or what you say wouldn't reflect well on the organization and you want to take the high road. There may a third, I just can't think of it at the moment.

^^ I agree about Sikma's comments. It seems it's just a courtesy to him. To Turner too, as it turns out (and to my surprise):

Don't know why they wouldn't want to give Turner legitimate consideration. But, apparently they won't. (I still think Morey has something up his sleeve regarding the coaching staff and player development.)

This bugs me as well. With a roster that is a few years from being a contender, I might prefer giving someone like Turner a shot. It's going to suck if we have to watch another former top-assistant of the Rockets land a job and excel at it as Thibs is doing now.

I'd like to see either Sikma or D-Wayne Casey. Seems he's really good. Mavs fans are even going as far to say that they'd rather give up Carlilse than Casey. I really think he got screwed out've that Minnesota job back when.
