Hello, my name is Roxs-Redemption and today, I want to share an article, typed by myself…

Around 2 years ago in the off-season I read a nice thread stating that no one was untouchable and that if we want to upgrade it was the only way to trade young draft picks or trade an expiring contract player. As it goes on, this off-season is still in this situation.

The Houston Rockets has a young team and a captain that has been along side with Shane Battier. He is known as the Chuckwagon. Although he doesn't stand tall, underestimated by a lot of league centre players...He has the heart and courage to teach others and lead the team with great faith and hope...He has the determination to try to win a Championship which this city once was/is still/is to be "Clutch City"

But this few years I have learnt was is like to battle against other teams when we are down or our key star players are injured..But never-the-less, the team has a better roster [Listed below]

    Point Guards
Kyle Lowry: leading the team in his effort in defence, hustling and playing hard every game day in and day out...with his ability to draw fouls against opponents that are bigger, stronger, or taller than him.

Goran Dragic: A superb back-up point, with the ability to increasingly show his skills and potential in this league...a young player with the heart of a Dragon and more amazing career still to come...

    Shooting Guards
Kevin Martin: A starter who was always injured when he was in Sacramento, and has now re-capture what is like to be in a different jersey and to help out young players who are willing to learn at all cost. He has the skills to shoot 90% or over in the free-throw and helping the team with positive ball movement...

Courtney Lee: A key young player, and could be the future 6th Man for the Houston Rockets..His career so far has been up and down before he went to the Rocket's team..This year, (the first year as a Rocket member) has able to capitalize a stable team who just missed the chance of in the playoffs once again..

Mike Harris: An important bench-warmer who has been getting call-ups in the D-League from the beginning of last year..And always in the Rocket's roster who has limited playing time...Still a player in the developing stage, who also can have spare minutes as a SF.

    Small Forwards
    Chase Budinger:
A college player who came out of Arizona, who has the leaping ability because of his skill in the volleyball, unfortunately he doesn’t have the ability to block shots but we as fans have see his skills as a potential dunker in this team. In this offseason, I personally think he should work in his lay-ups in hard pressured defence and the skill to pass around the ball to bigger players to finish strong in the ring.

    Terrance Williams:
Has not been able to play a minute as of late, many fans call him a bust in the draft. Drafted by the Nets and sent to the Rockets for filters, was many people think as a useless trade, perhaps the Rocket’s need to keep him the D-League or use him as a bait to trade up in the draft this offseason.

    Power Forwards
    Chuck Hayes:
The player who carries leadership in his shoulders, with the low-post defender extraordinaire, magnetic personality, fatally-flawed offensive arsenal to pay at a price of hard work and determination he’s transformed himself into a valuable asset on the other end of the floor as well. Recording the first triple-double in his career just a few weeks before the season was over. If Daryl Morey picks up a great centre player out of the free agency or draft, Chuck Hayes would return to the PF slot.

    Luis Scola:
An Argentine, who is willing to give everything, with every scroop of that ice-cream, he has been improving greatly in his footwork and making new ways to scores in the post everytime he has the ball. He is a caring person who has real character in the game. He has loved Houston since the first day he was promoted.

    Patrick Patterson:
The oldest player to get drafted by one team in the NBA, the University of Kentucky, has many players who has survived in the NBA and playing each game with a focused mind and that is to win the game. Patterson stepped up huge when Scola was down, recording 3 consecutive double-doubles as a starter during that period. He has the skill to block shots and finishing strong in the paint. To increase his game to next level, I would prefer Hakeem to teach him some moves.

    Jordan Hill:
A college teammate and still is a teammate in the same team, with Chase Budinger. They enjoy their life in Houston but one of them could be gone this season if the Rocket’s association decide to trade away one. Jordan Hill has regained his potential by wearing a headband. But sometimes this may not help. Drafted at #8 by NYKs, he would fit nicely in a new system with a team who is willing to increase their number of wins in the regular season.

    DeMarre Carroll:
A player known as the new “Brain Cook”. Enough said.

    Centre{er}
    Yao Ming:
Every fan in America, China and all over the world miss him, he was once known as the next franchise player for the Rockets but has been battling injuries this last 2 years. This regular season he only played 5 games before re-injuring himself. The question is to play him or not to play him next season in a full game?

    Brad Miller:
Now that Rick Adelman is gone, he will have to cope with the new head coach, with a different strategy in the game. Houston’s fans have been greatly disappointed this season on how he played in the clutch time. He once was a player who helped out the Bulls to almost have an upset against the reigning champions, Celtics in a 7 game series which could be seeing in this year’s Eastern Conference Final again with an ex-Celtic coach who has improved the Chicago’s defence enormously. In my honest opinion, he is getting to old and unfamiliar with new players. This offseason Rocket’s could use him as a bait or filter no matter which way they use in the trade.

    Hasheem Thabeet:
A tall centre, who has to improve the game and use to the basketball before the next season, he has time to think ahead and ways to help him to the next season’s Summer league
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I would keep: Lowry(G), Martin(G), Patterson(F), Hayes(F), Lee(G-F), Yao(C) and Scola(F)

Feel free to comment or add anything I missed.

    Please Note:

*Some players I put them in the SF and C to make more sense in this year’s roster*

T-Will/J-Hill/Thabeet would be the obvious choice..and who ever disagrees with me knows nothing about basketball..

    ...........Not sure if serious.

Anyways, my problem is that I value Lowry and Martin the most on this team, and they're both guards, though they play very different positions. Consequently, in light of Adelman's departure, I'd go with Lowry-Martin-Patterson.

I think this is a fail thread.

You haven't given people any real options - just packaged a few that YOU want, and then force people to choose between them.

    Pretty easy for me.

VERY surprised none of your choices included this combo:

    Lowry
    Lee
    Patterson

its because the combo u have consists on 2 guards and a forward..not a guard, foward, center combo as stated by the OP..whoever picked a combo that has yao needs to stop living in the past because that horse has been buried for 2 years..miller should not have been a choice in my opinion..with RA gone hopefully miller will follow..the logical choice for the future...

    guard-lowry
    forward-patpat
center-hayes*(of coarse he isnt a true center but hes the best "center" on the squad)

For me I want to keep Lowry, Martin and Scola. Lowry's our future, Martin's our scorer, and Scola's well...he's our SCOLA. I honestly can't see a viable upgrade for Martin as a scorer in the NBA right now, and I think losing Scola could be the worse possible thing for the team, his hustle, his post-play, his heart, Scola stays. I'd like to keep Yao aswell, but only with a paycut and an easy way out if we need it (vet min 1 year contract.)

Sorry didn't vote. Could not think of three that i want to keep. I could only think of players that i would trade/ let go. Yao, Scola, Hill, T-Will and Bud. Replace them in the draft.

If all that's left of this season's team next year would be Lowry, Lee, Patterson, Hayes and Morey, I would be happy.

Finally someone who thinks the same as I do, I would add C-Bud and PPat to that list and roll with our young guns.

I'm really just salivating over the idea of blowing up the entire team and starting fresh almost treating the roster as an expansion team, and if that option isn't available trade everyone for superstars/picks and go the miami/new-york route.

    Lowry/Patterson/Hayes

Try to keep Martin/Lee (maybe Yao) as well.
