I wonder if they'll also announce alternate programming for the time slots of games lost to the lockout.

I'm a fan of the Texans on Facebook. This morning they posed the question, "Against which team would you like to start 2011?" I can't believe how many people said the Cowboys; as if we play them every year in the regular season.

    an NFL team, tyvm.

This is so much better than the alternative: a team of lawyers.

    My thoughts exactly.

I'd rather start the year against the Panthers, personally.

We need all the W's we can get.

Not me. Look what happened a couple years ago when we played the Jets. New York wasn't supposed to be any good. The Texans were going up against a rookie head coach, rookie QB and two defensive starters out because of suspension. The team thought all they had to do was show up and they'd get a W.

I'd much rather play a good team the first week. Last year was a good example. All during training camp the motto was "one and oh." The team was focused for the opening week game and got that much needed victory against the Colts.

I would like to see them play the Steelers or Falcons at home in week 1.

Sigh....that seems like an eternity ago. My phone was going crazy with friends and family texting "are you watching this??"

Who would have thought at the time we would go 5-10 the rest of the way (with 3 of those 5 wins coming against backup QB's)?

    Sigh.....

The whole part of this equation you're forgetting is that, as it turned out, the Jets actually were pretty damn good.

You're forgetting the fact that the Jets actually didn't suck and turned out to be really good.

If we play the Panthers, get whipped by them, and they go on to the NFC championship game... I won't feel quite so bad about it.

Because they beat the Texans. I think that win gave them confidence which helped them become a good football team. If they had lost, it would have been the Texans going to the playoffs, not the Jets.

The Jets weren't good "because they beat the Texans". They were good because they were good. Better than the Texans. Had the Texans beat the Jets in week 1 they would have owned the tiebreaker, but who knows what else would have gone down.

Oh, and "One and Oh" feels almost as hollow as 35-3 right about now.

The Jets weren't "that" good going into the '09 season. Many so-called experts didn't pick the Jets to do very well that season. Beating the Texans in week one gave the Jets some belief for the rest of the season. That's half the battle right there. If a team thinks it can win then they are on their way to doing so.

Anyway, enough about that. I would just rather play a good team right off the bat, especially if it's at home. Whether we play a good team or a bad team in week one really doesn't matter. I think the Texans will win either way.

0-4 start? I say no better than 8-8 but probably worse. Should we hope that there's no football for the first few weeks?

I love the schedule. Home games in the first and last weeks is just what I wanted. I've always liked having a late bye.

The Ravens game is going to be tough. They'll be coming off their bye when they play us.
