LOL! That reminds me of those old posters the Russian Communists used to display! You are killing me up here...
Really? Killing us you say? I was under the impression that MiniMe was DM's great find: a 5-8 SG turned PG who had speed to burn and the killer ability hit that 3-pointer. This despite the fact he was physically over-matched by virtually every other PG he faced, did not run an offense very well and played zero defense (mostly because he was physically over-matched). But last year he was an Adonis in Rocket Red. I mean where did all of that love for AB go?
Can we agree that if we're going to call Adelman "unproven" based on championships, there's simply no logical way we can call Morey "proven"? I don't agree with the second paragraph at all. JVG had the same 'favorites' tendencies, which I also disliked, and he isn't old. Secondly, Drexler barely makes for a good commentator, much less a coach. Steve Fisher (SDSU), at an age older than Rick Adelman, brought a program with little historical success to a conference title and the sweet 16. Adelman's been in the league long enough to witness any evolution and have a wealth of experience and wisdom in dealing with players in a huge amount of situations. It's evident that the players are fond of him. He brought this team through a lot of adversity, and I was counting on that one bit of continuity to help us going forward; I'm one of those that really believes in chemistry and continuity (to a reasonable extent). Getting new and younger coaches can be attractive the same way throwing Terrence Williams into the starting lineup might be attractive to some people.
2007-2010 AB isn't the same guy as 2011 AB. He wen't from being a competitive, firey midget to a whiny, sulking chucker. As I type I have a 4'x6' poster of him on the wall. That dude we saw in 2009 fell off a cliff, never to be seen again.
best post in this thread. and I'm surprised no body brings up the fact that they take no accountability for anything. They sidetrack everything by saying they're going in a new direction. I'm not sure if they're extremely ignorant or well aware of their blunders and are helter skelter.
i disagree. He is young and had an ankle injury he chose to play early on due to a contract year and management refusing to give him a contract as it was. The dude had a major mental breakdown. If its one thing I'm sure of, young players can make their resurgance quite quickly under the proper guidance which I was positive rick was the man for. He actually had a handful of great games in Phoenix, 50/50. To his defense the suns have a lot of bigger problems that having Nash as a Pg are covered up. but he's been on such rapid decline this year with horrid numbers.
I don't know if I really disagree with you. I would love to see Brooks have success somewhere. I agree that his problems were mental, but the decline was pretty sharp. I take issue with the people who say Brooks has always sucked and was never a good NBA player.
All the Morey Haters are Back Out in Full Force Man it was just a couple of months ago when Morey traded Battier/Brooks for Dragic/Thabeet+picks. Everyone was b****ing and whining about how Morey was an idiot for making those trades. Saying how we were going to be worse "blah blah blah". Well Morey owned 90% of the board when the team started playing like a top tier team. Now Morey has decided that we need a new coach. So once again the entire board is going "blah blah blah" at Morey. Can we just assume that 2 months into the season when we have a winning record and are steaming towards the playoffs that everyone gets owned again? Seriously, how can people diss Morey when he has done more for this team than almost any other GM could. Sorry he couldn't get Deron Williams (The Jazz had already decided that they weren't going to trade him to a Western Conference Team) Sorry he didn't get Carmelo because we simply couldn't make the best offer, plus the Nuggets were reluctant to trade him within the West. And he was going to more than likely leave after the season. Sorry he couldn't get Bosh (He was already on board for the 3some) Everyone rags on Morey for not being able to get a superstar. Well simply put he hasn't even had a legitimate opportunity to do so. I just love how everyone bashes the guy then has to eat their own words.
How can he have a fair chance at getting any of those stars when the teams already have stated that they won't do a trade with Western Conference teams.
seriously... let's get one thing straight: IF DARYL MOREY COULD TRADE FOR THE ELITE PLAYER WE ALL WANT, HE WOULD. BUT IF THE OTHER TEAM OR THE PLAYER IN QUESTION REJECTS THE ROCKETS THEN MOREY CAN'T DO MUCH. pretty simple stuff.
Why the rejections? Is it possible that we do not have enough assets to fulfill the trades? Is it possible that other players do not see us having a quality team? What Morey can do? at the very least, keep silence on those "impossible" trades.
The premise of the OP's question is flawed. The real question you need to ask is why so many offered Morey unquestioned support despite his lack of tangible success? Same question can be applied to Les.
I'm glad that Rick is moved on, so that DM can be held accountable for selecting the next coach who will be tasked to deal with his constant juggling of the roster. I don't think DM understands that there are only 2 Superstars available... Chris Paul and Dwight Howard and neither one has Houston on the radar. So, how is he going to upgrade the foundation??? I think after this next coach fails, Les will be through with the MIT experiment and select a GM and Coach that understands a team must have chemistry and go through some battles before becoming a champion. Unless you can pull off a NY, Miami, or Beantown and only Beantown has won 1 championship. So good luck DM you are now on the clock.
