LOL Superman only said because he knows that Batman has a stash of Kryptonite just in case Supes goes crazy.
Why is everyone hating on Hulk? Assuming no one mind controls him, he would beat some serious ass. He beat the crap out of Thor with his own hammer.
If the JLA can use Gorilla Grodd to do the same thing, then yes. (These comic book arguments are giving me a nerdgasm.)
The majority in this thread seems to think JLA would defeat the Avengers. But, also, the majority have said anyone can take down Batman. Batman alone could defeat the entire JLA if need be (several stories have confirmed this), so I wouldn't think he alone would have any trouble with the Avengers. Batman is the wild card here. He's able to take down anyone he wants. FYI: In the DC v Marvel cross over from a little over a decade ago, Batman easily took down Captain Marvel, and Robin defeated Jubilee. Not to mention, Lex Luthor and the Joker repeatedly take down Superman and Batman respectively, and they are powerless humans as well. Having powers does not mean everything. And don't forget Dr. Ivo's power replicating android, the A.M.A.Z.O. He could squash the think shoot first, think later Marvel "heroes." Batman ftw > *
Captain Marvel is a DC character....so....there was a crossover where a DC character defeated a DC character?
There are actually characters named Captain Marvel in both Marvel and DC comics. DC's version was acquired from Fawcett Comics, where the first character to have the name (the one that says "Shazam!") originated, some time around the 1970's if memory serves.
Am loving this thread I added a poll to gauge actual opinion Also added Doctor Fate given I think he is one of the most overlooked superheros in DC Flash and Booster Gold are probably my two favourite DC characters superheros and Thor is my favourite Marvel hero I think we are also discounting the Hulk, he seems to be able to beat anyone, even that graviton dude who controlled gravity We are not giving the hulk enough credit in my opinon
Hulk is a beast and would do serious damage here. People also are mistaken when they say he is just a savage crazy guy and isn't good if you don't him angry. Hulk has evolved over time. The only thing is, again, DC just has too many guys of that level. If we broke the teams down into rankings of power on a 1-10 scale (10 being the best) You'd get this (imo): JLA Superman-9 Wonder Woman-8 Martian Manhunter-8 Green Lantern-8 Flash-6 Batman-2 (has no real powers and that is what this is ranking) Avengers Thor-9 Hulk-9 Iron Man-5 Captain America-5 Antman-2 Wasp-2 JLA has too many heavy hitters...
Antman's a genius who rivals Mr. Fantastic in tech and science. Plus the dude has taken up at least 5 other super hero identities. I'd think Flash could be stronger with the Speed Force. Not too sure what that means though lol.
In a potential spontaneous battle between the two teams, his genius wouldn't do him much good. Now in terms of team building to defend the Earth, Ant-Man would obviously be very useful, but JLA has the equivalent in The Atom (not to mention Batman who knows everything about everything except magic!!!1) I intentionally underrated Flash because I recognize people don't see how powerful speed is. You can make a case for him as being as powerful as anyone on the list simply because he can move faster than the speed of light.
I'm going to play by my own rules a bit.... You kind of have to force Hulk on as an Avenger so it isn't a horrendous rout, but bear in mind he's never been a full time member - especially the classic angry green giant version. They totally cancel each other out, but I include Hawkeye and Green Arrow on each side. And where's Aquaman?! He could at least hide in the ocean depths with his fishy friends or splash water on Iron Man. Have to say, I just don't see any way this doesn't end, fast, for Marvel. I'd take Batman and his tech over Iron Man (given time in the shadows). Green Lantern slaps Cap into a green bubble and tosses him into the ocean for Aquaman and a squid to drown I could see Hulk beating Wonder Woman half to death....but a Superman/Manhunter combo are going to toss him into space at some point. Thor-Superman would be a stalemate...until Manhunter tipped the scales. Ant Man and the Atom can kick each others shins for eternity, and no one will notice they're gone. Flash can just sit back, eat popcorn and swat Wasp if she stings by. If you pull the full roster of each team, you've nearly got the entire DC Universe vs Marvel's. Also, Spiderman and Wolverine are relatively new members - Marvel kept them off the Avengers for a good 3+ decades...adding them on only in an effort to boost readership.
I dont think batman even comes into the equation. tricks and gadgets and the like... i just think he gets taken out almost immediately.
