Glad to see Shane rockin' it for Memphis.

They keep playing this way, and the Spurs will get knocked out.

We should have asked two 1st round picks for trading him to the grizzles.

Great call and great vet but Z-Bo and Gasol won that game...he made the biggest shot in their history though.

Great spacing out by Shane. Gave him enough room to launch the three before Tony Parker could close in.

    Haddidi? looks pretty excited.

"No one deserves success as much as that guy", JVG speaking of Shane Battier during Lakers-Hornets game.

The Grizzlies team has never won a playoff game without Battier.

The Grizzlies team has never even made the playoffs without Battier.

Thanks, Morey, for that 2013 lotto protected pick and the right to pay Thabeet $6 million to sit on the bench.

I was considering making a thread about a Battier issue, but I'll try to address it here. I know he was a Team Captain and Memphis is technically a better team then Houston.

However, and a HUGE however, the Grizzlies, historically, cannot even be mentioned in the same sentence as the Rockets, even as their stock has been rising and ours falling/plateauing.

BUT: How is it that they take a hometown hero, in Battier, and stick him right where he belongs: on the bench! Why didn't we bring him off the bench years ago? Couldn't all the arguments against it apply even more heavily to Memphis? With Gay out, who is better or more experienced at the 3 on the Grizzlies? How can they justify benching a leader like Team Captain Battier?

Maybe what I like about them is they don't even try to justify. He comes off the bench, period. And it seems to work just fine. I guess the world doesn't end when you bring a slow old guy off the bench instead of starting him in the face of all human logic and statistical analysis.

There's already a battier in memphis thread you can post in. And the answer to your question is simple. Battier is several years older now, which is why his minutes in houston were decreasing.

As for the shot, awkward landing on it. Usually guys end up with ankle sprains on a landing like that...i wonder if he just really thought he'd make it or that that would be the best look SA would give them.
