    with all 4 teams playing equally hard: 71 (Miami/Chicago), 32 (Indy/Philly). That's embarrassing.

    per Bill Simmons

I didn't watch the Heat game so I can't speak for that one, but I thought the Chicago/Indiana game was called pretty evenly. Indiana was settling for quite a few jump shots (which they should have, seeing as Hans couldn't miss off the pick and roll), while you had Chicago (Rose) attacking the basket quite often.

that's how the L works. stars get the benefits of the calls. why are people still freakin' complaining?

if you have a lebron james or derrick rose on the houston rockets and we benefit, are you going to complain too?

i mean, you want danny granger to shoot 20fts? you want iggy to get to the line? DRIVE.

Did he even watch the game

Indy was shooting jumpers all day long while Rose was attacking the rim every single time, what the hell does he expect.

They were going inside early on. There were a few missed foul calls and I think they just backed off. I see that happen a lot, even during the regular season, with different teams.

    Because it's wrong?

This means that if you aren't a 'star' then players are allowed to mug you but can't breathe on certain players.

i was rooting for miami but against chicago and didn't think either team got their advantage from any sort ref advantage. indy didn't appear to have any intention of ever just contesting a rose drive and just fouled, and miami/philly is a battle of the team with the 3rd most free throws and the team with the 5th fewest free throws in the league. it stands to reason miami will get more free throws.

the reality of FT disparity becomes strikingly apparent everytime these players participate in intl competition and look like mere pedestrian mortals without all their superstar calls.....indeed their facial expressions of disbelief directed towards refs in intl play is quite comical

39 fts for the Heat compared to 15 fts for Phili, I watched the game and thought this was way too great of a disparity.

no, stars attack more. today's 2 stars who got the most ft attempts are those who ATTACK: rose and lebron.

derrick rose and lebron james attacked relentlessly today. they deserve those fts. and being a star helps, but they put themselves in position to get those calls.

i hate when people just look at the boxscore and complain. it's a pathetic attempt to disgrace a game.

This is exactly why they get hurt so much in international competition
Without REF assistance our stars look very mortal..

With Ref Assistance. . . .Any NBA Player could be a Star

    Rocket River
ok . . maybe not Ryan Bowen

So Dirk drives more than Iguodala?

You think no one else drives to the rim except a few star players?

I also hate when people assume others just look at the boxscore and not the games. Tons of players drive to the rim, Brooks used to drive all the time and get fouled and then you watch Tony Parker get all the fouls Brooks didn't.

I can't count how many times Lowry was hit hard going to the rim only to get no call and then watch someone accidentally brush Kobe and get the foul call. That ain't right.

If that is 'Just how it is' then it needs to be changed.

wade/lebron/kobe/durant looked like mortals to you in international play?

if i remember correctly, wade and lebron shot like 60%. kobe was mad clutch as usual. and durant toyed with international competition.

they looked mortal in the other years b/c maybe they didn't "care?"

but hey, there are a few on this board who believes the NBA is rigged. and yet you guys still watch. take that remote control and turn off the games then.

Surprised people still complain about this. Road teams in the playoffs just won't get calls when it matters unless your one of the chosen few...Aaron found that out last season in the regular season.

dirk has rarely been a high ft attempt player so i don't know why you bring him up. why? b/c he rarely drives. 5-6 ft attempt for a superstar is pretty damn low.

then how come kmart gets a bajillion fts? how come corey maggette gets a bajillion fts a game? do you want me to name more "non-superstars" in this L who gets calls?

for some you name who you do not think get calls, i can counter with a good player (not a star) who does get calls.

stop whining. there will be missed calls b/c they are refs after all. and there will be blatantly bad games (like our mavs series).

but TODAY'S 2 GAMES? please. complain when the refs actually did have an impact.

danny granger? tell him to stop shooting jumpshots and drive his ass to the rim then.

iggy? tell him to actually attack the damn basket instead of driving to pass.

I bought up Dirk because you said "Star players attack more..." which was silly because Dirk doesnt go crashing into the lane more yet he still has got more calls than Iggy. Dirk at 5ftpg and Iggy at 3.1

People like Martin and Maggette are vets, they get the 'Vet' calls and refs are used to how they play. Martin literally hunts for fouls.

Besides Martin is the exception to the rule. Maggette is 36th, Martin is in the top 10.

Also I'm not complaining about these two games, never did I complain about either one. But the overall NBA rule that "He deserves that call" because he's a superstar is BS.

You even see sometimes where a player like Durant will get the whistle blown AFTER he misses the shot it's like the refs just assume "He missed it, that guy must have fouled him..."

have you seen iggy play? the guy doesn't drive to attack; he drives to pass.

secondly, dirk likes to use those damn annoying pump fakes. tmac used to get 5-6 ft attempts per season just on those alone.

EVERY league gives their stars the benefit of the doubt. tom brady should know.

but again, i'm talking in regards to the OP and bill simmons. people in general look at the box score and see the ft disparity and blame the refs. yet if they watch the games, they would know why.

A lot of it has to do with who is the home team rather than who has the star players.
