That guy on the right drafted Yao Ming. I think his name starts with a C. http://www.nba.com/rockets/photogallery/Rudy_T_and_Carroll_Dawson_Mee-47282-34.html http://www.clutchfans.net/feature.cfm?FeatureID=161
You're right -- but my point still stands. I don't hold the GM responsible for player injuries.. impossible to predict.
Good lord. He was a CONSENSUS top two pick. Any GM, including Presti and Morey, would have drafted him at #1 or #2. Blaming Pritchard for Oden's injuries is stupid.. I can't say that enough. The only way you'd have a point is if Pritchard drafted someone that no other team wanted to touch because of injury concerns -- that was never the case.
Do you have any idea what you're even talking about now? You think "less Lowry" is somehow a sign of rebuilding, lmao? Teams aren't built on who is given playing time, they're built on who can actually play. Jordan Hill could get 40 mins a game and he could literally not improve one iota, and he won't. In other words, what you're suggesting will NEVER happen under ANY coach, RA has nothing to do with it. Do you not remember RA saying that his first instinct was to make Hill the #1 option behind Yao and then saying he regretted not playing Hayes? That sure sounds like a guy who doesn't give young guys a chance, lmao! I'd even be willing to make a tipjar bet that none of those guys you mentioned (besides Miller who doesn't see consistent minutes anyway) will see a drop in minutes unless roster changes or injuries occur, regardless of coach.
You can't blame Pritchard for Oden's injuries BUT....... before Oden was drafted the Blazers already had Aldridge and Z Bo.I always thought that Blazers needed Durant more then they needed Oden.
Hindsight is 20/20. Randolph and Aldridge play the same position, so I don't think either should have stood in the way of drafting a franchise center. I believe they opted for Oden over Durant because they felt Roy was their star on the wing and wanted an elite big man to add another dimension. Should they have taken Durant? Absolutely. But I put very little weight in fired employees (Patterson) coming out four years after the draft saying, "See, I knew we shouldn't have taken him!!!" Oden did not have any prior knee surgeries when drafted.
Agree, but the Oden scenario is almost repeating itself this year with a person named Enes Kanter. I predict the second, but lesser, coming of Greg Oden. Every team needs a gifted Sam Bowie-like center to watch the games from the bench.
Exactly. Like, love it, or hate it we are mixing things up. It always gets worse before it gets better.
I think that if the Adelman Firing is followed by trades of Scola and Martin.... in 2 years people will look back and say that Morey had great foresight in avoiding the Mediocrity treadmill... either way we made a change and if we suck next year ( as i suspect we will ) we will get a high pick in a a really good draft.
Not only him ... but Barnes, Jones, and several other players who could have declared for this draft and have been a surefire top 10 pick.. plus the incoming freshmen make the 2012 one of the best weve had recently. There might not be a true superstar in the draft but there are tons of potential all-stars.
Grease up the wheels ladys. On all aboard the mediocrity treadmill going on to year 3. But our defense looks disgusting so I'm predicting a draft pick in the 10 to 13 range. Time to pop the bubblely.
Our defense will improve dramatically with a legit 7 foot shotblocking center and Morris and Williams getting more time than Martin and Budinger.
The lottery is actually best solution against it, as people, especially conspiracy theorists will disagree. There's no better option, out there, I have seen some NFL fans (who passionately dislikes the NBA), recently trashed (very ignorantly/illogically) the NBA version of the draft, yet in the NFL, the worst team is always guaranteed the first pick. While, the NFL draft's talent pool extends into later rounds, that's not the case with the NBA. Most of the top talent is in the first 10 picks. Moreover, tanking in the NBA, while being the worst team doesn't necessarily anoint a team - the coveted 1st or 2nd pick in the draft. The worst has picked as low as 6 or 7, while a team that just missed the playoffs can get top 10 picks. Even more so, the draft does not automatically make a team better, unless they are other moves to compliment perspective rookie, or the team is steadily trying to improve overall. On a more personal note, teams like Minnesota should be banned from the draft, mainly because they've screwed up so many draft picks.
The Rockets have a very deeply talented young team. Morey has a lot of trade assets to work with. Within the next two years, I think Morey will be able to be fully judged on his competency. So far, I like what he's done.
