Adelman and morey are good foreach other. Adelman has been known to leave studs on his bench. Morey made trades to force some of them into the rotation. Pat Patterson comes to mind. Morey comes off as insensitive when treating players like assets. Adelman is a coach players want to play for (if they feel they can crack the rotation). So that helps morey's recruiting a bit. That and an iPad
I think he did. It doesn't get mentioned here very much, but DM has made the team younger, which is not the same as a sideways change.
He traded TMac for a draft pick, a potential pick swap and a 6'10" rookie. That counts as rebuilding.
The Terrence Williams trade was also pretty bad. The rotation already has too many good players, and Morey goes out and adds another wingman. Williams has a horrible attitude on top of that. If we are playing for the future, we should NOT have traded a first round pick for a player who has no place in our rotation anytime soon. What was Adelman supposed to do with him? He wasn't going to beat out Martin, Chase, or Courtney for playing time.
What stud has been on Rick's bench? Please don't say Gerald Wallace. Patterson wasn't 'forced into the rotation' by a trade. Nobody that was traded played his position.
There's not a single player available given even the #1 pic that has the potential of Martin's scoring prowess and efficiency much less worth what he is now. Now gtfo with stupid comments like that.
Lowry, kind of. We traded AB and Ish, which clearly gave the PG job to KL. And T-Will wasn't a bad trade; it was a calculated risk that seems to have failed.
Why can't I say Gerald Wallace? he was made out to be James white by adelman. A dunker at best. He turned out to be a borderline all star. Battier played a lot of 4 this season. Shorter rotation means all players move up on the depth chart. Patterson was sent to the dleague before the trade. The pick was starting to look like one that was not going to work out. Then trades happened, and he cracked the rotation ever so slightly. He turned out to be one of the bright spots of the season. If you still don't like that explanation, then I'll say Courtney Lee. He did not get enough PT to be effective. Some even started missing Ariza for a bit. After the trade, he got more minutes, and boy did he take off after that. Lowry is a different example. I think adelman wanted him to start, but with adelman's unwritten policy about obsession with seniority and rookies, Brooks was starting despite his poor play.
Regarding Brooks comment. I meant the start of the season, and to an extent, last season. While Brooks played well last season, Lowry ran the offense better
he ran the offense better because he did it off the bench. Last season both played their roles really well. And to the brooks comment, he actually played just as well at the start of this season as last pre injury. We took a dive deeper given Yao and when he got injured but then slowly lowry started a resurgence. He pretty much came to form to the point that the way things were going brooks was not going to be better as the starter , injury or w.e it maybe , it was the case.
We wondered how Lowry would do if he got to play with the starters more. He has excelled to garner discussion of being a star point guard. I didn't see any indication that adelman was going to take the starting job from Brooks. Thanks Herrera. It seemed he played more than that
with the aquisition of martin it certainly made it more of a chance. with chuck, ariza, and shane in starting lineup, it would have been unwise imo especially since his shot was broke back then.
True. I forget how suspect his shot was a year ago. I don't think adelman would have changed his starters this year. While I wish he stays, he is on the stubborn side. Loyal to his troops
The feeling I got from Adelman's quotes: 1. He is not out just chasing a ready made championship team (as a lot of people assume). He seems to still have hope that this Rockets team can be fun to work with. 2. He feels that Morey was not clear to him what the direction is. 3. He feels that the management has not been "having his back", not enough anyway. (THIS, IMO, may be the most devastating factor.) 4. He's giving Morey the benefit of the doubt and giving him a chance to clear things up. I am still a little optimistic that they can work out some differences. Both men are smart. They know what's going on. Morey probably needs to be a little more tactful on his communication skills. What I worry is Les Alexander's dirty old hand coming in to ruin the show.
