Oh my gosh, the Time Tunnel. I can't believe anyone could remember that show other than me. It ran for one season in 1966. That show kinda freaked me out, I was six years old.

What was the name of that poster that would defend ANY decision by the Chinese government, no matter how absurd it was? I am waiting for that guy to make this thread more interesting...

If all the pointless Islam threads can go 20 pages, this will too.

    Right?

Oh there is no way he would be moronic enough to come in here and defend this Chinese censorship policy.

So can any Chinese Clutchfans watch this trailer or they censored like the last Guns N Roses album?

Well, let me give it a shot. Those time travel TV series currently made in China are way beyond crap, you will likely suffer irreversible brain damage if you sit through a couple of episodes. Not too many people will miss a show about a man traveling back in time and take on Genghis Khan's army with an AK47 or something like that. Most of those are not the product of creative minds, instead they are what happens when producers run out of ideas and say, why don't we just send this random guy back to whatever dynasty and let him blow the **** up whatever he sees.

I would argue that this decision is probably based more on the general crappiness of the shows than the fear of someone using these to advance democracy or whatever agenda they have. With the current censorship program already in place, they don't even need to worry about that. Unless you want to get your ass planted in a prison cell, you simply don't make a movie trying to deliver messages the CCP won't approve. Well, I'm not in anyway really defending this whole thing, all I wanted to say is that this is a stupid stupid decision to begin with, and it seems way beyond stupid when something is lost in translation. This is one of the instances where as James Fallows of the Atlantic says, the way official China "presents" itself to the outside world makes conditions look considerably worse than the mixed realities of the country itself.

Could this be a mistranslation or something?

Even the Saudi government would find this absurd.

Nobody noticed that CNN used the word "ban" in the title when the actual content only used words like "guidelines" and "discourages"?

    Typical western media lie.

    Original article:

Actually its typical MISLEADING CLUTCHFANS THREAD TITLE. Where in that CNN blog did it say China bans time travel. It says it discourages which is quite a huge difference from the word "ban" OP YOU FAIL BIG TIME

New guidelines issued on March 31 discourages plot lines that contain elements of "fantasy, time-travel, random compilations of mythical stories, bizarre plots, absurd techniques, even propagating feudal superstitions, fatalism and reincarnation, ambiguous moral lessons, and a lack of positive thinking."

And that has not worked out to well for the PRC, what is your point?

Obama also discourages people from buying incan light bulbs, or setting their AC thermostat too low, or driving cars that get 8 mpg.
