Well, let me give it a shot. :grin: Those time travel TV series currently made in China are way beyond crap, you will likely suffer irreversible brain damage if you sit through a couple of episodes. Not too many people will miss a show about a man traveling back in time and take on Genghis Khan's army with an AK47 or something like that. Most of those are not the product of creative minds, instead they are what happens when producers run out of ideas and say, why don't we just send this random guy back to whatever dynasty and let him blow the **** up whatever he sees. I would argue that this decision is probably based more on the general crappiness of the shows than the fear of someone using these to advance democracy or whatever agenda they have. With the current censorship program already in place, they don't even need to worry about that. Unless you want to get your ass planted in a prison cell, you simply don't make a movie trying to deliver messages the CCP won't approve. Well, I'm not in anyway really defending this whole thing, all I wanted to say is that this is a stupid stupid decision to begin with, and it seems way beyond stupid when something is lost in translation. This is one of the instances where as James Fallows of the Atlantic says, the way official China "presents" itself to the outside world makes conditions look considerably worse than the mixed realities of the country itself.
