Don't really think it's that big of a deal. I think he was referring to the black community as a whole when saying "the blacks". If you changed his sentence to "the hispanics" or "the jews" I don't think anyone would give it a second look.
The Trump candidacy is so stupid. I cannot believe the attention he is getting and that his GOP poll numbers are actually good. Fortunately, sanity will prevail and he will be completely forgotten in a few months. As far as I know, he doesn't have any major GOP fundraisers or insiders in his pocket, which will be certain death to his campaign when the race really gets started. Since he is an unproven newbie, I doubt any of them jump on the bandwagon. He is not a legitimate contender.
I'm pretty sure if he referred to "the hispanics" or "the jews" people would be criticizing him the same. I dont think Trumps a racist, I just think it was a stupid thing to say, especially because he's considering a presidential bid.
IMO, this is a non-issue. Trump being a birther is far worse than this statement, at least among people who think for themselves rather than believing the lunacy on the birther websites.
You know he's literally following the tea-party textbook to get himself into office. He knows he won't be able to make a realistic run at GOP nomination. But this gets him some publicity and love from the tea baggers. Next time he will run for Senate or something and he's got his foot in the door. Trust me, this guy wants nothing to do with the POTUS position. He loves to live lavish and has the 'big fish in a small pond' persona. Don't take him seriously folks, just enjoy the dumb/funny quotes.
Agreed Trump knows he's doomed to fail and is just pushing buttons for publicity, but do you really believe he wants ANY elective office, including Senator? I sure don't. He doesn't want to be hemmed in by real responsibility. IMO, he's either completing a check-mark from his bucket list, enjoying an ego trip while it lasts or is angling to use this for financial gain later on.
The attention is probably because it's such a huge train wreck thus far. The poll numbers are... disturbing.
that's a terrible thing to say. I rarely get this agitated over stuff like this but this is absolutely unacceptable...no one should ever have friendships with the blacks.
Trump? He's a cipher. That he is even being mentioned says more about the current base of the Republican Party then it does about the egregiously vain Trump. Latest polling: Crazy.
