your answer to question two has zero to do with the question asked, so i'll ask again. do you consider their actions professional? again, these people are in a highly respected profession that involves saving lives. i don't believe my opinion was condescending, but i may be wrong. yes, they are hardworking and dedicated. you should be hard working and dedicated in whatever profession you partake. those are only a couple of qualities of being professional. profession. professional. which brings me back to the questions above. care to answer it. yes or no?
With all due respect, they were doing this song at a Halloween party. They weren't exactly performing it in the lobby of the ER. Also, from the article: They responded, so why not tell us what they actually said? Way to present both sides.....
of course you're done. i understand, imma. but what sort of answers are we looking for? surely not clarification, justification, or rationalization. their clientele are people that need help. as for it being a halloween party, would a teacher workroom analogy work here?
Is there any complaint/proof that they aren't providing that help? Or is it because they've been seen expressing some annoyance over the amount of abuse they've witness; amidst true need to be sure but I'm sure they've seen a lot of abuse.
of course there's no proof. succinct sentence was succinct. help. that's all they need. my dad used to tell me to do something as a child and followed it up with "...and don't give me any lip either."
Doesn't fit the term 'racist'. But insulting? I can see why. I think the only reason this video is brought up in a video is because it has to do with healthcare. For obvious reasons (which are stereotypical within themselves) latinos are insulted. That automatically triggers the fact that doctors will provide "not as good" care to that specific group because they differentiate between an 18 year old who comes in for treatment for her 3rd kid vs. 30 year old who comes in for teatment for her first kid. Should the quality of the care depend on the reason the patient came in? No. Does the video suggest otherwise? Yes. Does that happen in reality? Dunno.
I didn't get through the video as it was offensive to my ears. From reading the lyrics though I agree it seems more like gallows humor than racial insensitivity. Its definitely not professional and these students probably shouldn't have done a public skit like this and certainly not posted it on Youtube.
*shrug* It was interesting at best. Hell let them blow off steam QUESTION: Are any of the offended going to boycott the hospital? Doubt it. If they did that same song on GREY'S ANATOMY the country would be GLOWING at its irreverence and daring . .. but since it is people who actually DO SOMETHING WORTH A D*MN . . .we gonna dump on them? why do we have a society where the rich and famous can basically do and say anything . .but let a regular joe do it. . we wanna jump down their throats. On the offensiveness scale .. I'd give it 3 out of 10 on the funny scale . . 3 out of 10 . . .I bet it was funnier to those who deal with it though Rocket River
I don't understand what you're asking. You wouldn't like to know their side of the "story"? Not unless the party was being held while they were on the clock. A better analogy would be a teacher happy hour after work. I've been to a few of those and let me tell you they can get pretty rowdy. Doesn't mean they aren't great teachers when they're at work. Should we start following doctors/teachers/firemen around during their off time to make sure they're always being professional?
hypothetical. no one followed anyone here. fair enough in regard to the analogy. hence my asking. i've noticed you posting threads relating to education lately, so figured that you would know. edit: patients/students. both vulnerable. neither deserves ridicule.
I think the real question is, if you get discounted or free healthcare, should you really be concerned about your feelings?
Thats why women belong in the kitchen In b4 they get raped by a group of bentaub patients and not a single f** will be given that day
Baylor College of Medicine is in no way affliated with Baylor University. It's connected with Rice University.

Nobody's saying it was professional...thats just silly. The question was: "Is this Insulting/Racist?" The answer is "yea, probably" to the former, and "no" to the latter. End of story. You act like doctors are have to act like saints all the time. Nope, they crack the occasional offensive comment, just like the rest of us.
