Congrats. Martin has had an awesome year, largely because he managed to stay healthy. Now it's time to trade him. His trade value will never be higher.
Does Kevin Martin seem to get under anyone skin or is it just me? It seems like he never wants to admit areas he's weak on. Denies he's injury prone when he's been injured most of his career, clearly because of his extremely frail build At the very least, he's underweight. When asked about his small build, Kevin goes on to say "I think I'm average for someone my age" When he first arrived to Houston, he denied he claims of being a bad defender, and blamed the fact he was on the Kings When asked in a post-game interview why he doesn't play well in fourth quarters, Kevin Martin denies this fact, then goes 1/9 the next game a critical fourth quarter Everytime he dunks the basketball, he hangs on the rim for just a second and smirks. Although 9/10 dunks he's wide open. When we NEED a basket, he'll risk trying to get a foul instead of just making a play like a basketball player should Always has a smirk on his face like he's a beast
Clearly, the answer is to admit areas he's weak on. Like this: Spoiler <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/S8GzOgnkWfE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Seriously, though. He has weaknesses but it's a little much to call him out based on some interviews where he didn't answer loaded questions that basically amount to "do you agree you suck at defense?" to your liking. Congrats to Kevin, he has had a tremendous season. I don't want him in Houston as a #1 guy, but he will be a damn good #2 if we get lucky with a star.
Nice observations of Kevin "Fools Gold" Martin or Kevin "I do not want to be the number one option" Martin. I notice some of this all as well. Nothing bothers me more than this: Not even when we need a basket. I hate the "offensive flop" he does and when he looks for the bailout whistle. Ok carry on
Wow ok, was Reggie Miller underweight too? They seem to have the same build to me. As far as defense goes, compare him to Ray Allen, Allen was a notoriously bad defender until he got to Boston. Defense is more about schemes unless you're a big man who denies the paint. Also, it's not his fault that the NBA has the worst refs in pro sports who officiate the game differently in different quarters, lmao. If that makes sense to you then you should have your head examined. And finally, he smirks like he's a beast because he is a beast.
Kev Martin intentionally keep himself malnourished in order to maximize his floppiness and piss off fools like Tommy Heinsohn.
The thing I was happiest about this year for Kmart was that he was healthy all year. He was great on offense all year long. DD
I was more impressed by his consistency - he'll score his 20-25 a night like clockwork. It's been a while since we've had a reliable scorer.
Why are making personal hits towards me because you don't agree with what I said? And just because the refs officiate different doesn't mean you should miss a good portion of your field goals in the fourth quarter. If you know the refs aren't going to give you calls then quit trying to get them.
It's not quite the same. Hakeem had a well-rounded game in points, rebounds, blocks and steals whereas Martin only got his by scoring.
I'm pretty sure Dream's Top 4 categories were Scoring, Rebounding, Blocks, and Assists or Free Throws.
players who shoot a lot, by TS% this season http://www.basketball-reference.com...=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=36&c6stat=&order_by=ts_pct
I meant it in a more general sense, sorry. And it's not that refs don't give those calls in the 4th, it's that some refs who are morons think they shouldn't make those calls, not all refs. Remember that Sacramento game where they got tons of those calls in the 4th, even in the final seconds? The problem is the NBA, not Kevin Martin. Most people agree with this, you hear Bill and Bull say it all the time too.
