I posted video of Stephen Jackson calling the ref a p***y ass *****. He wasn't fined for that.

Yeah but well actually looking at it again it looks like he says "you're p***y, you're a f***** too p***y ass *****".

Starts at the 25 second mark. You can read his lips and tell

If Kobe was gay, would it be ok for him to say the f word?

I'm sick of bigots who can't stand it when people get called out for using discriminatory language. Why don't bigots toughen up stop getting their panties in a wad when someone calls them on their bigoted language?

The idea that people who stand up against those that use discriminatory slurs are the ones that need to change is just laughable. Let's call out those that need to be called out for using the slurs.

Well, he was ejected, which is worse than a fine (in this case it would have meant Kobe was suspended for the last game, which is something the league would def. not want).

Also, using Stephen Jackson as a model for acceptable NBA behavior doesn't really help your argument. That guy is trash.

He said the language after he was ejected. Where did I say his behavior is acceptable? I used an example of a player using the same language that wasn't fined for it. You can't even use the well it wasn't nationally televised excused because this was a playoff game.

My point is if the NBA are going to fine Kobe for that clip then they need to start being more consistent because they have a lot of cleaning up to do as far as that is concerned.

Something tells me you're only in this thread making this stand because it was Kobe Bryant that said it.

Well, if it wasn't Kobe or LeBron who did something like this, there wouldn't be a thread (see: Stephen Jackson and no one cares). Those guys are held to a different standard because they are the face of the NBA, and when Stern receives outside pressure from big groups, of course he has to do something. He can't have his golden boy calling people faggots on national tv.

If LeBron did this, I wouldn't be coming to his defense but yeah, I probably wouldn't be as vocal because he doesn't have a history of abusive behavior. Kobe is a POS and has shown it time and time again. We've seen him caught on camera throwing **** at his teammates, berating refs, etc. Just imagine how much of this goes on when he's off camera?

There you go, whatever argument you had against Kobe now means nothing.

Right, because I factor in a player's history of behavior in judging him, instead of having kneejerk reactions. If you don't see the difference between Kobe and LeBron's behavior (and why it would be shocking to see LeBron call a ref a "f*****" but par for the course for Kobe), you haven't been paying attention. It's not really their faults either, as LeBron grew up poor and had more accountability at a young age than silver-spoon Kobe (whose temper tantrums are typical of spoiled kids).

Kobe and LeBron both throw temper tantrums on the court

Kobe and LeBron both whine to the refs a lot.

Add Wade, Duncan, and most stars to this list.

When have Wade, Lebron, Duncan screamed at a ref, run over to the bench & kicked a chair, hit their teammates, etc? Have any of them gotten into fights in a game like Kobe has? Have they knocked down cameras in the lockerroom, as Kobe has? Have they thrown teammates under the bus, snitched on teammates, demanded trades, raped women, etc? I mean, enlighten me.

Oh, but it's just because he's got a lot of "heart". Give me a break. They guy needs to grow up.

Lebron didn't shake hands with Orlando after choking 2 years ago.

Lebron ripped his jersy off last year, and threw it on the ground.

Lebron did a 1 hour special saying he was quiting and leaving his team to go to another team.

Screamed at a ref followed up by running to the sidelines, throwing a towel and kicking a chair, and then proceeding to call the ref a f*****. Oh, and not even getting kicked out for it.

All players whine about calls. Kobe takes it to the extreme and berates officials. Worst of all, the league tolerates it. Oooh, they fined him.

Yeah, paying someone off to make the case go away doesn't make it right.
