Hope it turns out better than Tim Burton's a decade ago...but I doubt it.

Never had a huge issue with Burton's remake, wasn't great but not horrid either.

Visually, it was stunning. The make up, of course, was great too. The story and acting was just lacking.

I also happen to be a big fan of the original films...even as cheesy as they were. Love 'em all.

I agree with you about the Burton film, ditto on the originals as well. The first film is one of my all time favs.

Doesn't the title seem a little awkward?

Why not just, "Rise of the Apes"?

I enjoy all of the originals as well. Burton's remake was OK, never really understood the ending. I didn't even know about this film so thanks for the head's up.

    Think they wanted to keep with the format of the original films titles;

    Planet of the Apes
Beneath the Planet of the Apes
Escape from the Planet of the Apes
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
Battle for the Planet of the Apes

    I see.

Also, this movie seems like a one big spoiler for the original (haven't seen the subsequent movies). That's unfortunate.

Well by this point I think the ending of the original film is so ingrained in pop culture that's it's hardly a spoiler by this point.

    Looks interesting.

I've never seen any of the others. Worth watching?

Personally, I think the original is a Sci Fi classic. The latter films vary in quality and all are pretty heavy with thier allegories.

I was finally able to watch the original for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I think it still came on TV a lot when I was younger but I was never very interested. Anyway, I enjoyed it a lot.

Our fate lies in the hands of one James Franco.

The ending was just taken from the end of the original novel by Pierre Boulle. Basically, he went back to Earth but it was about 700 years later and humanity had already been overthrown by the Apes (as evidenced in Conquest of The Planet of The Apes).

If you're okay with none of them being close to as good as the original, sure. The five films together have a great story arc that answers all the questions left by the original.
