Wow. How very unprofessional and unethical. Being in the healthcare profession and having my own patients, I can personally relate to treating underprivileged patients. Just disgusting. And no, I did not read the article. Leave it to BCM, as always, for being the biggest douches in the the Medical Center.

    Well, yes.

It's offensive to my ears and eyes.

    I thought it was hilarious.

But at the same time I'm transferring to Baylor next fall so I might be a bit biased.

I think it's a sign that people need to stop being such crybabies and learn to laugh at things.

You'd be hard-pressed to find another medical facility whose staff busts their collective asses more than the staff at Ben Taub. They're a top-notch trauma facility, and they deal with every problem you can think of from every aspect of society, top to bottom.

It might be you in their ER some day, and you better thank your lucky stars should you wind up there because if you can be fixed, you'd better damn well believe that they'll fix you, and some stupid video has no bearing on the treatment you'll receive.

    And in before D&D.

Is the motive of the song/dance to offend and demean people?

Did it achieve it's intended goal by being a funny skit and making people laugh?

    There you go.

I don't know if I'm offended, but I do think it underscores the attitude of most doctors that they are in it for the money and not doing it because they think they'll help lives. Just the elitism of it can be off putting im.

I actually think there's a healthy split of each, but I hate the fact that when ever my doctor orders a test/drug, I have to really think about if it's worth it/need it or are they just piling stuff on so they can make some money. It's also crazy that every medical bill i get, I get charged hundreds of dollars for things that was told my insurance would've covered, and I have to argue each and every charge just so some would get waived.

Basically a doctor is some one you should trust, but I can't help look at them the same way I look at a car salesmen in that you wonder how much of what they say you can really trust. There are probably a lot that are good, but it's hard not to throw baby out with the bath water.

Anything that anyone is insulted by is insulting by definition, so yes, it's insulting.

    Racist?
    nope.

It was in poor taste, but it seemed like people enjoyed it, so mission accomplished.

I think the song is definitely offensive...talking about a third kid at 18...driving under the influence and crashing...just some things that are serious topics and shouldnt be joked about. It just paints a general, ignorant picture...something that isnt entirely true. I understand they are trying to be harmless and funny...thats fine, but I spend plenty of time treating the underprivileged, and Ive seen the hardships they must endure. I think if they had a little bit more experience with patients of the same socioeconomic status that they treat, then they would be a little bit more sensitive to what they say. Its clear that ignorance plays a big role in this.

Not insulting. Kind of funny and very creative. Baylor Med grads are some of the smartest people in America.

Exactly who enjoyed it? Other med students, residents, doctors, etc...? Or did the hispanic/black population that struggles to survive every day get a kick out of it?

Its a matter of perspective. The song isnt offensive to me and I couldnt care less what they say...but its an offensive song to certain people, thats for sure.

It's more insulting for someone with no insurance to show up at the Ben Taub ER complaining of a headache, when they could have used common sense to realize that they should have just taken a Tylenol. Waste of valuable hospital resources.

Not going to argue that they are smart, but do you trust them? Just like the ivy grads working in IB on wall street, they are smart but how much do you trust them?

Or maybe they are afraid it's something more serious, but without insurance the only place they can't get denied medical treatment is in the ER.

Is Tylenol a valuable hospital resource? My guess is that they have plenty.

If I am sick and have some mysterious disease, I would rather have someone who is smart and can figure out a proper solution than someone who I deem trustworthy.

Most of society go to work to earn an income. I don't see why doctor's should be held to some standard where they are not allowed to maximize their income potential.

That sounds like a loophole in the healthcare system.

How could anyone even think this is offensive it's meant to be comical. Today's society is such a joke. Everybody is constantly being judged and scrutinized. Nobody can have fun without having to worry about hurting another persons feelings.
