I think Rick has done a great job with what he has had to work with. Of course, this could be a negative since we haven't made the playoffs the last couple of years, but weren't bad enough to get a good draft pick. The bottom line, at least in my book, is that the coaches main job is to win, and Rick has done a superb job when it comes to that. So not looking at Les or Morey and just myself, I would say that YES, I do want Rick back. The offense is a lot of fun to watch, and hopefully the defense will improve if we can get a legit 7 footer/shot blocker. I don't know how any other coach could have done more with what he was given than Rick has done. Do you want Rick back? Not what you think, but what you want. Pugs
This should probably be a poll. And to answer your quetion, it depends on who we can get. If we can get a defensive minded coach with good disipline I'd be happy to replace Rick.
I do but it won't matter much unless we get him a center. I really don't want to be in this position again with or without Rick.
To answer your question, No. Wait let me restate that... HELL TO THE **** NO!!!!!!!! I don't want to see Old Man Rivers, on the Rockets bench ever again!!
You might be better off asking "Who DOESN'T want Rick back?" I think the majority want him back. Get a poll up, we'll see. Honestly though, meh, Rick and/or the Rockets can move along and I probably wont be mad.
Don't really care. If he comes back great. He knows how to win games, the downside is that early in the season its almost like he's unsure of what to do with who and drops unnecessary games (and the past two years didn't have a superstar player to bail him out when he makes mistakes) The good side is right around the middle of the season almost every year he's been here the team starts to just click. Getting another coach is a complete unknown. We may be getting the next Phil Jackson or the next John Kuester or anything in between.
Absolutely. Rick is a great coach. I suspect the Rockets are going with their old fashioned "low ball" strategy. Unfortunately, I don't think Rick is going to play that game. It's going to be a tough sell with the fans to just let him walk away, and I can't help but we'll immediately regret it.
he had some ups and downs with us earlier in the season but later he got us pass the .500 mark and coached really good. I say we keep him
My problem with him is the team took off when DM actually made the roster worse by trading away Brooks and Battier. Maybe its just me but I think it exposed the whole "which coach can win with these guys" argument. Adelman wasn't using the players correctly, and he was so bad at it, it cost us to miss the playoffs. If the team can go on a winning tear with a worse roster, what would our record actually be if Adelman didn't stick to his favorites all season long? I don't want a coach who doesn't know which guys to play, esp. when the GM is so good at getting undervalued players.
He did well, much better than most other coaches did. I thought he made some defensive mistakes down the stretch in some games which hurt us though. I don't think we can get anyone better than him. I would get a center to replace Miller and give him a 2 year contract. If Les doesn't bring him back,or if Rick leaves,I would like to see Turner as an interim coach.
the stuff RA's been able to pull off with the amount of injuries that have handicapped our team? simply amazing. He's a winner and he's changed the face of our franchise. I know we've missed the playoffs 2 years in a row, but you have to cut the guy some slack. When was the last time you've seen the 2 allstar players on a team go down with season ending injuries year after year. The yao era is gone... just a memory now. Rick's been able to recognize that, and if Les doesn't resign him next year it'll be the biggest let down since T-mac. LMB
