But read the article. Even if there is a summer league, it will not include NBA players (which would also now include Marcus Cousin and Marqus Blakely) or NBA draft picks.

Given the number of young players already on the "15-man roster" and the fact that the Rockets have 3 decent draft picks, and given that NONE of them can play in the summer league, I'm guessing that the Rockets' summer league experience will be meaningless other than to maybe give Elston Turner, Jack Sikma and T.R. Dunn more "head coaching experience."

And that's assuming Turner, Sikma and Dunn are still with the team.

WOW! What a call dude. You seem to have some insight into how Morey thinks. I'll keep an eye out for your predictions in the future.

    Nice call once again.

Told you that Rockets had shifted their interest to NBDL since last year.

Soon we will see new NBDL championship flags hanging on Toyota center.

He's listed as 6'5", but his 7'1" wingspan makes him more like a 6'8" player.

I understand the non-guaranteed contract, which means there is no cap hit, but why for three years? This is second one of these 3-year deals. What gives? What's the advantage?

I guess it's if we hit gold with one of those contracts (Unlikely), we avoid the Carl Landry situation where we had to ink him to multimillion deal after only one year.

If he's any good they lock him up for a few years and get full bird rights?

The advantage of a three to say a two year deal is that if one of those guys pans out, you got them signed to a seriously cheap two-year deal.

If you just sign them to a two year deal, which in effect is a one year deal, since the season is all but done, and they happen to play well, other teams will go after them in free agency.

This is what happend to the Jazz, when they signed undrafted rookie Wesley Matthews to only a one-year deal, worth $457,588.

Matthews turned out to be a player, hit free agency and got signed to a $34mil offersheet by the Blazers.

In short: The more unguaranteed years, the better.

In addition to the other responses, I think you are seeing the Rockets demanding a THREE-year deal (rather than the TWO-year deals they signed Mike Harris and Alexander Johnson to last year) because of the impending lockout and the (very real) chance that the entire 2011-12 season is wiped out, thereby rendering a two-year deal completely meaningless to the Rockets.

The obvious ? He's got some length and athleticism .... and he can throw it down. This team can definately use those qualities.

The questions ? .... they abound. Does he have the handles , footspeed and lateral quickness to play the SF spot ? .... Does he have a jumpshot ? Whats his BBIQ ?

Guess only time will tell the tale.

It's a pretty cool day for me, at least, since I live in Vermont (he went to UVM) and got to see him play some -- hard to say how his game'll translate to the NBA -- but he was definitely fun to watch, wicked athletic, great dunker... and how f***ing often is anyone from Vermont going to be signed by the Rox?
