not sure if this is the right forum....

after watching harris dive into the front rows and landing on a little kid, who's responsibility is it? does the nba/players have any liability if they end up hurting someone on the sidelines by accident? are spectators allowed to sue?

    was just wondering

    I doubt it.

Common sense would tell you there's a possibility of this type of thing happening if you sit close to the court.

I would hate to get hit with a hockey puck in the face at a basketball game.

    I LOL'd.

I'm pretty sure on the back of each ticket is a disclaimer about the possibility of getting hurt.

    Update: Just checked.

THE HOLDER OF THIS TICKET VOLUNTARILY ASSUMES ALL RISK AND DANGER OF PERSONAL INJURY (INCLUDING DEATH) AND ALL HAZARDS ARISING FROM, OR RELATED IN ANY WAY TO, THE EVENT, WHETHER OCCURRING PRIOR TO, DURING OR AFTER THE EVENT HOWSOEVER CAUSED AND WHETHER BY NEGLIGENCE OR OTHERWISE. THE HOLDER AGREES THAT TOYOTA CENTER (AND ITS AGENTS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, OWNERS AND EMPLOYEES) IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURIES RESULTING FROM SUCH CAUSES.

I would very much doubt that disclaimer holds any water at all in a court of law.

Wouldn't the customer/fan have to sign that piece of ticket in order for that disclaimer to hold up in courts?

I would think if you agreed to purchase the ticket, you agree to all unavoidable risks that are associated with attending the event.

If a player goes crashing into the crowd and hurts someone unintentionally, that's the risk you take. If a player intentionally goes after someone in the crowd, that's on the team/player IMO.

that's funny but does remind me of a hockey game i was at when the puck flew into the stands.

It was about a foot above my head and as i ducked i reached up to try and catch it. it slipped through my hands and hit the kid in the face right behind me.

    cool story bro

Damn. It would suck if somebody died at a basketball game from getting hit in the face by a hockey puck.
