If RA is willing to come back then there is no reason we shouldn't be willing to resign him for at least one more year. If Morey is not able to shake this team up in the off season, and bring in some actual top level tale,t, then I don't see any reason why he would want to. I wouldn't blame him either.

yep the facts are definitely on your side..

    - adelman doesn't have a rigid rotation
    - adelman doesn't go back to his starters to close out the game
    - adelman doesn't keep giving minutes to shooters in long shooting slumps
    - adelman is a master at in-game adjustments and getting a score out of timeout
    - adelman's teams defend the pick n roll real real well
    - adelman's blazer teams didn't time and time again gave up series leads and in-game leads to the fakers, bulls, etc -- and neither did the kings!

    here's another fact:

TheFreak has a long history on this BBS of getting attached to rockets head coaches and never letting go

Nice facts presented there. A real ironclad case.

For what it's worth, below are some well-designed Rockets plays coming out of timeouts which nbaplaybook.com noted in its "Clipboard Award" segments.

hes a great coach. simple as that. Don't understand why the competent* players on our team wouldn't want him back.

adelman has the plays set in motion, are people naive enough to believe he tells them to go out and do whatever?

if the players don't execute it properly, usually just one being the short link on the chain can cause it to collapse.

Exactly, that's why ballhogs and showoff won't prosper under Adelman. FO should have been aware of that, and align the trade policies in such direction, to maximize results.

I want Jeff Van Gundy back....i think Adelman has something to do with Yao's injury couple years ago. He over used him.

And Martin. He needs to stay as the number two option. If the team picks up a "superstar" and loses Martin, it's just spinning its wheels.

Without Tracy McGrady, Detroit is likely better than 28-51.

I would say the facts are most definitely on his side.

    Facts:

1559 games coached, 944 wins, 615 losses, and a .606 winning percentage during a coaching career that will see Coach Adelman in the Hall of Fame, but hey, don't let the "facts" get in the way of the truth, right?

I'd love to bring Adelman back, but for it to happen Les needs to want to resign him, and more importantly Rick has to want to come back.

Well stated. Just to add, Adelman is also 8th on the all time winningest coaches list. Maybe he knows more about coaching and winning than bloggers.

Or maybe his super old and has been coaching for a long time. Because isn't Don Nelson the leader in wins all time? Would you consider him the greatest coach of all time, because he has the most wins? No. His just been around the league long enough to get them.

The writing is on the wall for Rick Adelman, accept it people. I for one am looking forward to getting rid of "old man rivers".

I'm just not sold on Adelman being the coach that's going to finally get this team back over the top. He's not a bad coach but as others have pointed out in this thread, he's just too stubborn and sticks with certain rotations and "coach's pets" too long which have cost this team this year. As others have also pointed out, it wasn't until his hand was forced at the trading deadline that the team started to rapidly improve.

This team definitely is not a contender right now and management needs to do the necessary work with personnel (starting with a legit starting C and SF) but I truly feel they could have at least been a playoff team if Adelman could have done a better job of setting better rotations and playing the right players at the right time this year. Its just too many questions about Adelman's strategy at crucial times. I feel it's time to move on from Adelman and start fresh.

Which coach doesn't have this flaw according to your observation?

Like I plainly stated, Adelman sticks "too long" with certain rotations and players. Yes a lot of coaches have favorite players or rotations but when it's obvious these players or rotations are not getting the job done, more times than not the better coaches know when to implement change. I know many on this board are for Adelman staying and they have their right to their opinion and they will try and justify why they feel Adelman should stay. I'm just one of the fans who feel it's time for a coaching change.
