I post this thinking it's a foregone conclusion that we are bringing back Yao. (for better or worse)
So .....how much capspace do you think we'll get hit with?

I'd like to think 2 million but for SOME reason I gotta believe we're talking 5- 6.

I understand if the Rockets don't want to cut ties, but anything over the minimum is too much.

I will guess a base salary of about $3 million together with incentives out the ying-yang. Under this sort of contract, if he were to resume starters minutes of about 33-38 minutes a game and produce statistically like he did when he was at the top of his game, he might bring in 15-20 million dollars a year.

However, if he gets injured during pre-season and is out for the year, he would get the $3 million. What he brings to the team from a marketing perspective with the Chinese fans is easily worth more than that. It may sound like a lot, but really, this is a no-brainer.

starters minutes are clearly not an option anymore. He can't sustain more than 18 min at the max

I hope none. His tenure in a Rockets uniform was a massive failure and disappointment.

I am pretty sure this isn't allowed in the CBA. I think incentive laden contracts in general a problem.

We would have done much better drafting Jay Williams, I agree.
