I know the question wasnt directed at me, but my personal views on this are pretty consistent with Casey's; I couldnt stand Beck, and if there's any commentator that I dislike less, its probably Maher. Beyond his arrogance, his bullying and obstinacy in pushing his beliefs leave little room for discussion. Frankly, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a single talk show host on Fox who's less tolerant of opposing points of view. I think Maher fancies himself as being far more intellectual than he actually is, and although he does often make good points, the entire show is mired in his hatred of everything not consistent with his worldview.
He makes the largest of the dbag faces after saying something. He talks like everyone else is an idiot and he himself says some of the dumbest crazy stuff ever. Mostly though, half of his show is just showing a picture or saying something, then making a stupid face.
maher is a pimp. love his show. he can be a jerk, but he is funny. as for beck, i hate that the op compared him to olbermann. what ever you think about keith's politcs, he delt in facts, beck not so much
I wouldn't say Olbermann has dealt with facts. Both of them take what they believe to be fact and they stretch it so far left or right that to suit their politics that it just becomes ridiculous.
this is simply not true. beck dabbles in the world of obama being a manchurian candidate. its not even in the same league, look i understand your m.o. is to "the liberals do it to" but its simply not the case here
Forget Charlie Sheen. Bill Maher is livin the dream! He gets paid to sit around and argue politics in a manner on par with CF.net D&D and taps a lot of @ss.
yeah, but I find the format awesome after watching the standard political talk show all day. the celebs tend to provide a layman's point of view, although from a millionaire perspective
I have no idea if Bill Maher is gay, bi or straight but if he was gay or bi why would that be a problem?
Where did I say it was a problem? Someone asked me specifically why I didn't like him and I never mentioned anything about him blowing guys. The next two posts including yours talked about all of the p*rn stars he dates and I just pointed out he is an obvious closet homosexual.
umm it's simply totally true.. Olbermann lies and slanders any chance he gets if the person/Candidate doesn't have a D in front of their name. Glad he is off the air since he was a major doucebag.
I definitely see how Maher's east coast persona can rub people the wrong way, as he's usually going after the more uninformed side of any given issue (who unsurprisingly don't like to be informed of their ignorance), but I really don't see the bullying you do. In my opinion, people that perceive this are just intimidated by him. If opposing views are presented, Maher certainly tests the waters, but to say that *anyone* off Faux News is more tolerant of disagreeing guests is a f**king joke. The comparison isn't even fair. The format of Real Time is completely different from hourly-news-infused style pundit shows like Hannity or O'Reilly. Say what you will about Maher, his show is a bastion of free speech. I think CaseyH makes a better argument. At least he makes it clear he thinks the guy is gay, for no real reason.
Yeah he lets them talk if they are on his show (sometimes) but then he calls them a moron and makes his patented dbag face. also I specfically answered a question about why I disliked him and it didn;t talk about his homosexuality at all. I only brought that up after the posts of him with his beards.
