He really is our only hope to be a title contender in the next 5 years.

I say build a team that is tailor made for him and go balls to the wall in pursuit.

    2011 is a lost cause.

I would attempt to trade scola and miller for kaman and sign wilson chandler or theddeus young. Let Hayes go and make a run at Howard and williams. Adding gasol, tyson, nene or any other non superstar type player only make the rockets a 4-5th seed type of team. Quit wasting time and effort and get 1 or 2 bonifide superstars.

The scaru thing is Utah has gone into tank mode, but they have Favors and Gordon Heyword plus the nets lotto pick this year along with their lotto pick. The rockets better watch out.

Hope DM can immediately get us a legitimate C on draft day..thru trade of course..if Kaman, he would be ok to be paired with Chuck or patpat...Hope they would not go into waiting game again signing FA...this team needs a sure thing...then SF position is the next one to be addressed.

Agreed, I believe we will have a great chance at dealing for Dwight Howard in the offseason. He stated something about if they didn't win it all this year, he would try to join another team. A center is what we need to make us relevant again. Imagine Yao backing up Dwight!!

I would test Memphis and see how much they're willing to pay Gasol. Everyone knows they are among the cheapest organizations in the NBA. Put an offer out for him and go after Chandler.

Try to address SF through the draft. I think W.Chandler will be nearly impossible to pry away, and Prince/Butler would be nice, but I think they'll be likely to take MLE money to go to a contender or in Butler's case, re-sign with Dallas. I don't know if I could stomach Kirilenko though I recognize he is a solid player.

Hard to imagine Yao backing up anyone, much less starting if we don't have/get anyone better. I guess I've just lowered my expectations to the point that if Yao plays at all, I'm happy/impressed. But man, what I'd give to have Dwight on this team!!!!

Yes, he does. But if we lose Scola in the deal, there's $9 million off, so you've got a net $4.1 million that you'll have to find if you want to make sure you don't add to the cap for 2012. I'm not worried about it. Besides, Okafor may be a key piece to acquiring Howard if it indeed works that way. Okafor and Martin could go a long way in Orlando if indeed we made some sort of deal for Paul or DWill before then...............screech! Okafor either becomes a key piece to our current team or him and Martin go back out in a blockbuster deal for Howard.

You don't bet on the Howards, Williams, and Pauls. You make the team better and keep playing. We ain't that far away now. I don't care what all the doomsdayers are saying. If we added Kirilenko and Okafor and gave up Scola, we are tons better.....tons! Now, we can get some luck and be even better yet. Yao could possibly come back and give us 20 mpg. Now what you got?

This team is not that far away from a 60 win season and top 3 status in the West.

I'm not really interested in any free agent outside of DeAndre Jordan, who I would consider giving a pretty big offer to. Just to make sure Clipps don't match it.

If we want to consider Superman we need to fill the whole at SF... Even if it means getting rid of Martin (hard to say he's my favorite Rocket). Lee is friends with Dwight so thats our in. A starting lineup of Lowry Lee (2 way SF If we can find one) Patterson Dwight would be #1 or 2 defensive team and still a good offensive team. Have Dragic Bud Hayes at your 678 men woo thats a team.

THIS!! He has the potential to be the next D.Howard... bulk this guy up and give him a hook shot (CD style). With a little more experience he could be that good...

D.Jordan is nowhere near Howard...I agree he can be serviceable but not a franchise player

I read some posts saying that we should just sit tight until the 2012 FA race. I still say we should make a run at acquisitions during the off season to improve the team.

I don't quite see it the same way as some have posted do. It seems as if they're looking at a pick up this off season means that we're hampering/foregoing the 2012 FA race against ourselves. If we can truely make a run at a legitimate big man and a reasonably priced, balanced SF, who's to say we can't use them as valuable trading chips in the upcoming 2012 FA race? Our ability to acquire someone the caliber of Marc Gasol, if anything, makes us that much more appealing as a trading partner for whomever we should choose come 2012 *cough*Howard*cough*.

Think of the extra wins and how that'll only help our cause as a destination for "superstars" and a desireable trading partner for the teams losing their franchise players.

As we saw the previous off season, none of the teams losing their superstars are likely to get anything in return of the same value so they'll be looking for the best that they can get and EVERYBODY loves a legit big man.

Wilson Chandler is why I made this thread I think this guy is our ticket to being a contender. The Contenders for the next 5 years are going to be Heat, Bulls, Thunder, Lakers & maybe the Knicks. The Spurs, Celts, and Mavs have put themsleves in a horrible situation by building around older players and not rebuilding in the process.

It is Key to have a denfensive wing to compete with LeBron, Melo & Durant. With the Bulls you have Rose which is why we NEED to keep Lee. Kobe in 5 years will most likely be slower. Chandler and Lee is what we need to Lock Up the contenders postions 1-3. Lee on PGs and SGs and Chandler on SGs and SFs.

DM's number one priority should be a long Defensive Center, but close behind should be a SF like a Chandler, Granger, or wait for it wait for it RUDY GAY.

I wouldnt re-sign hayes either just to note. No extensions for Thabeet,Hill,or williams either. The band aid approach will not work. The rockets need to ready themselve for championship runs against the like of chicago, miami,l.a,and ok city. Adding Gasol, jordan, dalempbert,a broken down yao isnt going to do it. This team isnt good enough to beat either of those teams in a 7 game series.

    Ok, guys.

    DEANDRE JORDAN

    1. How much you gonna pay him?
    2. How much are the Clippers gonna pay him?
    3. What is his incentive to come to Houston?
