That's crazy I think it's extremely relevant that you are trying to place blame on the US. If the Taliban weren't in Afghanistan, would the US be there?

 

You're getting defensive and your question is irrelevant. The debate of whether we should be there or not is for another thread. You are totally jumping the gun and labeling me as placing blame on ourselves. I'm trying to put myself in an Afghans shoes as to what a motive would have been. A motive besides an idiot pastor, or even bigger idiot sermon giver, or my lack of education.

Tell me why you think there were no other violent protests in other muslim countries. There are crazies in Pakistan, Iran, Syria, etc too right? If the U.S. occupation of the country is not even remotely part of the picture here, why the violent protests in afghanistan only?

(please don't say coincidence)

My point being is that removing all other elements, the burning of the Quran would not have resulted in a violent protest imo. But with high tensions, this would be the perfect spark.

and there is the other issue which is that you cannot start fires on public streets - you can probably get a ticket for that.
