Why would they have to defend themselves if the other student is law abiding? Perhaps you haven't noticed but school campuses are not gun free.
You've lost me here. I'm a native Houstonian who's lived in Austin for over 30 years, a liberal, and have no problem with guns when they are handled and used responsibly. "california, NYC, austin, etc" makes no sense at all. What does that mean? Ever been to Orange County? Never ran into a conservative New Yorker? You should get out more.
If you see someone pull out a gun and you don't have one, then you should get the hell out. what is your point? Your scenario is lacking many facts. WTF else is going on? the only reason to legally pull out a hangun is when deadly force is legal. If you don't know when that is then read the Texas Penal code. Yes i have been to campus and I am aware of the push button security booths. Universities ban weapons in the dorms that are legal to carry on campus. i wouldn't have a problem with them not being allowed in the dorms. could you please focus your argument. You have not developed any real argument, are all over the place, and making no headway. Pick an issue and lets talk about it.
I was explaining to the poster why his response of "this is Texas" doesn't mean anything on these forums. I am not sure why you think I need to get out more.
Mine was, and the fact taht it was made drunken collegiate misbehavior far safer, and generally harmless.
out of the 100 questions you asked that wasn't one of them. Is it where you want to start? I answered all of your crazy questions and this is all you give me?
You haven't answered any of the correctly. And none of them are crazy, they're all valid questions that students THEMSELVES have raised in various rallies and other debates... what's the point of of you answering my questions if they're **** answers? First one: Of course we run if I don't have a gun and somebody else does, no **** sherlock. The real issue is, when students call in this issue to UTPD or whatever police department, doesn't that put the "legal handgun" owner's life at risk if cops or SWAT can't immediately differentiate between a rogue gunman and a legal handgun owner in a shooting? Better yet, do you think that "psychiatric" tests to determine somebody's sanity when it comes to concealed handgun law is flawless? If it isn't flawless, why are allowing guns on campus if there is even a remote risk? second one: I'm just saying, why allow students to be "heroes" in crazy situations, as the one we saw in Virginia Tech and UT last semester? Let the officals do what they've been trained years to do, and just let students find protection and cover. third: Clarify; again, can you answer the question head on instead of avoiding it?
Whatever your answer is, this will probably my last post on this thread. no use of arguing with stubborn donks on such a polarizing topic lol
The first responders are not there instantly. Most shootings are over very quickly. At VTech they took 6 minutes to get there and before they were on the scene, the shooter was dead. The problem you outline is likely not nearly as much of a problem as you think. For it to exist, the person with the concealed handgun IS FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIFE. i think they will take the increased risk of a police ACCIDENTALLY shooting them over being defenseless against someone who is intentionally shooting them. Defending your life is not being a hero. First responders take too long. At VTech 32 people died in 6 minutes. I think your issue is more about gun ownership than concealed carry here. Once a mentally unstable person owns a gun, they likely will not care much about legalities of carrying it on campus when they go to kill dozens of people.
i thought you were glad that I stood up? WTF you put out a convoluted post going in a million different directions containing half baked ideas then bail?
All of my thoughts were as sensible as they could be considering they were responses to your incoherent posts.
yeah, guns on campuses is a great idea. and when a "hero" whips out his gun to defend himself only to get shot by the cops when they arrive because they see someone with a gun, then casey will be here complaining about that.
Because the cops certainly wouldn't identify themselves and tell him to drop the gun, they would just open fire.
