The key word there is "school".

"School" doesn't have to mean "college".

Let the kid go to a vocational or technical school while he earns money playing in his minor league sport.

Unfortunately, last time I checked those schools don't have scholarship granting football teams.

What would happen if there became a COLLEGE EQUIVALENT to those High School Prep Schools?

    Basically basketball/football/etc mills.
They would probably dominate their weaker schools.

Almost right, looks like it's TSU that is on the chopping block!

The Auburn of the SWAC will be SOUNDLY punished. Can't have this kind of cheating at that level. It's an insult to all of FCS.

It depends on which school they attend. Every single athlete on a scholarship is getting "paid" more than I am to attend the exact same university. What would you have them do? Allow them to pay players? Give colleges a salary cap?

They are getting paid more. And in most cases they are also bringing more revenue to the school. I do agree that it does depend on which school the kids attend, and it would be somewhat difficult to come up with a system that decides which kids at what school gets what. However, it would be very easy to just allow athletes to make $$ off of their name or likeness. Other college kids can earn $$ part-time during school from whatever it is they do well, like playing the piano or writing programs or whatever.

Why is it wrong for some local company to pay a UH player to advertise their product (off the field)?
