This is what the Mavs have always been...a bunch of fake tough guys and paper tigers...Once you punch them in the mouth figuratively then they don't know how to react and end up wilting. I fully expecting them to collapse in the playoffs.

Wouldnt be the first time. Put up a good record in the reg. season, lose early in the playoffs.

Are you saying Longevity is not a sign for greatness? Compare TMAc and Vince with Kobe now and see where they are at this stage of their careers. Kobe's remarkable consistency and longevity makes him great. When it's all said and done he will likely finish no. 1 or 2 on the all time scoring list. If that's not greatness I don't what you call greatness.

No, longevity is very important. But you can't really be an elite if you've never even been the best in the league. Don't get me wrong, he's great.. but very overrated. Had he not been on stacked teams for 90% of his career he would just be another player with good stats on losing teams. Contrast this with a guy like Tim Duncan, who is the best player of the generation but won't be recognized as such. He actually took separate mediocre-without-him teams to titles.

    Carmello?

You can't even properly spell the name of one of the game's most recognized stars... just further proves your complete lack of knowledge surrounding the game of basketball. Your interest in the sport revolves around your rather disturbing obsession with one player (Kobe Bryant), and your never-ending, feeble attempts to blast him. I'm not even convinced you're a Rockets fan... take your sideshow act to LakersGround, because your trollish behavior on this board has already caused you to lose what little bit of credibility you may have had.

It's obvious that the Lakers have size and experience surrounding Kobe, not to mention a fairly deep bench... but, give respect where respect is due.

kobe is a much better playmaker and defender than melo. if melo did those 2 things, the knicks would be much better.

sure the lakers would most likely be a top 5 seed in the west without kobe, but they need kobe to compete for a championship..

i agree with you that either duncan or shaq should be the player of the 90s/early 00s generation. but you're right kobe will get the nod. i think he was the best player in the L for a 3-4 year stretch from 03-04 to 05-06. then lebron took over from there.

but sometimes you need luck. kobe was fortunate to be with the lakers though.

This is a meaningless regular season game that won't have anything to do with anything if they meet in the playoffs. In 2006, the Spurs kicked the Mavs in the behind in a similar fashion late in the season and the Mavs beat them in the playoffs on the way to the Finals.

The Lakers are better than the Mavs, that is why they would win in a playoff series. Not because of any "statement" made tonight.

Oh, and after tonight, I officially cannot stand to hear the voices of either Kevin McHale or Chris Webber. I'm burnt out on those two because of their constant blatter on NBA TV. Listening to them on TNT hurts my ears.

I haven't watched TNT for a while. What happened to Ernie, Chuck, and Kenny?

LOL. Stay classy, LA. These are the same guys who burn down their city when they win. God forbid if they ever lose in LA.

Wow you going to bag him because he spelled a players name wrong? And clippy isn't that big of a problem here, its trolls like Redz Alertz and Goodbug that need to be dealt with who actually do obsess, yeah clippy does make a lot of post about Kobe but every single one of Redz Alertz and Goodbugs post ARE about Kove

Feck, why doesn't the software block out posts that quote ignored users? I liked being Mourning-Wood free-- that guy knows less about basketball than my 4 year old son!

Agreed on RedAlerts/Goodbug/YaoZow/MourningWood/etc. I mostly post about Kobe on account of them so you'll see much less volume now that I've got them on ignore. However, when the Lakers come up, as they inevitably will on games like tonight's, it's hard to avoid that kind of discussion since the constant fellating of this guy gets on my nerves. My god, they could have sat him out tonight and they still would have won by 30 (although Joey would have had to find another Laker to gift 20 FTs).

Why single out LA? LA is not the only city who trashes their own city. Boston fans trashed their own city also. Denver Bronco fans were even worse and Oakland trashes their city no matter if they win or lose.
