Quaddafi, nuclear crisis. 1986 repeated, irony. But this thread is about a book about how pop culture in the eighties has affected our politics today. Its really an interesting subject, the writer was on Rachel Maddow's show last night. One example they talked about was the popularity of the A-Team and how its values have been exemplafied today.

David Sorita, "Back to Our Future". There's a link on MSNBC's web site of the interview. Dude was wearing a save ferris tee shirt. hilarious.

Here's one link about the book

Nice. I can't wait till Thabeet randomly goes apesh-t in game 5 and beats the crap out of DeLonte West in a bench clearing brawl.

I read a related article that had a part of the book.

This is a GREAT QUOTE that basically describes 2011 AMERICA:

"We are a society that confuses “celebrity-worship and hero-worship,” a society that tends to idolize not those who become “famous because they are great,” but those that “simply seem great because they are famous.” - Daniel Boorstin

Hello, everyone. I just arrived here to Houston from Mexico. I like the Rockets. I especially like Jim Petersen and Akeem Olajuwon. I saw this kid Buck Johnson play in Alabama once. He can soar and dunk really high!

Oh, what are these things over here on the right, smilies? What happens if I click one?

    Man, this is cool! :)

I think every year of that decade needs its own song.

Yes, the culture popped out of its petrie dish and infected the world.
