Why is it disrespectful. Does that make Hakeem disrespectful for calling it the dream shake because he obviously isn't the first one to do the ball fake.

Rondo does it all the time, he doesn't even do it in the post like Hakeem, he has never seen Hakeem use that move, he can call it the milk shake for all I care, he's the one doing it on the court not me.

It sounds to me like he called it "Rondo Shake" as a joke, because someone was telling him he was doing a "Dream Shake".

Like kaleidosky said, you almost need to think of it as a different move when a guard does it. What made Olajuwon's moves special was that he was doing it as a big.

on the first and last videos he clearly switches his pivot before releasing the ball towards the backboard. The only one that was legit imo was the utah one.

How is stopping with the ball, then making a move in which the pivot foot comes off the ground "fine"? Go watch them again. The one against Utah is the only one in which he didn't travel.

Part of what requires you to be a Rockets' fan on this board is to be oblivious to the reality. Saying anything that isn't homage to the great Rockets of the past means you're a 12 year old or your actually a fan of another team trolling this board.

I don't think any of those were travel.

This is a rule I'm still confused with, but I think it's legal to lift your pivot foot if you shoot or pass before landing on the same pivot foot again.

I watched them again and I don't see what you're talking about.

In fact, the only one I can actually see where he might have been called was the Utah video where he shuffles his feet.

Boy, he travels like every other play.

That pivot foot is sliding all over the place.

You must be watching something different?

Kobe travels a LOT - but not where you say.

You're aware that only ONE foot has to remain on the floor as the pivot foot right? And that's the first foot to come down.

In the first clip it is his LEFT foot.

In the Pacers clip it is his RIGHT foot.

Against Houston it is his LEFT foot.

The irony with your assessment is that the UTAH game is the only one in which he DOES travel!
He jump stops onto both feet and pump fakes, then shuffles BOTH feet a few inches before putting the ball off the backboard.

Thank goodness you're not an NBA referee is all I can say - and I seriously hope you're not refereeing in some local competition and ruining it for everyone.

    directly from nba traveling rules

"coming to a legal stop, the ball must be out of the player's hand before the pivot foot is raised off the floor."

If you're going to quote a rule, don't just pick out the part you like. The next line states specifically:

    And again.

Also in your quote of the rule, it states:

He's not starting a dribble after he comes to a stop in any of these clips. Hence, it continues with:
