To be a star I'd say he'd have to be about a top 7 PG in the league. Already, we have Nash, Paul, Williams, Westbrook, Rondo, and Rose that are clearly better than Lowry right now. So the way Lowry is playing now he is in that group, playing like a star, but he has to be able to do it consistently to stay that way.
I have to say, I'm amazed at what Kyle has done this year. It's not often that a player goes from being a really bad 3pt shooter to a pretty good 3pt shooter. Last year we were saying Kyle was solid in every area except he was a poor shooter, but we can't say that any more. I wonder, can he be even better next year, I think he can.
Since the AB trade, 19.1 ppg, 8.1 apg, 5.1 rpg, only 2.5 tpg, 61% true shooting, in 37 mpg. And that's not even mentioning all the "intangibles" he brings to the table. He's played like a star in the last month and a half. But I'm not going to make any predictions on next year and possibly jinx a good thing.
He is a better shooter this year, but he is a better passer than last year as well. He looks to pass now, instead of trying to force his way to the foul line.
Kyle has arguably been playing as well as any of them. I think DM tweeted a story comparing him to Rose and that Kyle was as efficient or something to that effect. So I think he is a rising star will he make it? Time will tell he's been looking real good hope he can do this next year if not add a new twist.
Sure, Kyle's flirting with triple doubles with increasing frequency, but at least as important is his emergence as a floor general. The guy is a leader, pure and simple. I, of course agree with Rip about the improvement in his shooting....and hte hard work Lowry's willing to put in for these things to happen. It bodes well for him and our franchise. Finally, the defense out top is a thing to behold. As a Rockets fan who still has nightmares of Gary Payton getting into the lane at will, it's refreshing to see our own....Bulldog, guarding the citadel. Kyle's star is ascending as we speak.
The assist/TO ratio of over 3 is elite. The TS% is Kevin Martinesque. The rebounding would lead the league among PGs. And the raw assist totals are ridiculous considering we run a motion offense initiated at the high post half the time. And that is only the tangibles.
Right now I would have to give the nod to Kyle over Rondo. The reason Boston has had problems is because teams are packing the paint and roaming off Rondo daring him to shoot. Rajon has great assist numbers but his lack of a jumpshot has really hurt him and the Celts.
Lowry or Conley? I just checked the Grizzlies board, and most of them prefer Conley. They've both had pretty good years.
1. elite level 2. all star 3. star 4. starter 5. rotation player 6. situational player 7. scrub His ceiling is number three, just like K-Mart.
He is better than K-Mart, already. I'll take "all star" if we are talking "ceiling". Whether he actually makes it into one or not will depend on name recognition/popularity contest. However his actual production should match or exceed many who do. Especially when guys like Mo Williams were "all star"s.
I'd say Kmart is the best scorer, Hayes is the best defender, Lowry is the best player on Rockets this year. They all have impacted the game in a positive way, Martin has played decent D.
