After doing two rounds of P90X, I did a round of Insanity. Sort of wish I hadn't because I had lost enough weight with P90X and then Insanity just got me way too skinny. Now I'm back on a modified P90X plan to gain weight. But if you are looking to cut body fat and lose weight, Insanity is a great program. Extremely difficult though. wow, great job! those pics are very inspirational. how would you say Insanity compares to Plyo as far as degree of difficulty? I was either going to do P90 again or Insanity after my first round. Honestly I would rather get lean and cut fat more than anything, but I've been loving the strength days in the Classic P90X. I just finished Plyo, unfortunately it was as brutal as ever...
I'm doing insanity right now as well, getting ready for a basketball tournament in a month. After 2 weeks I've already noticed my explosion on the court improving. I was doing p90x for 4 weeks prior to insanity, but I wanted to lose weight. So I'm going with insanity for now. Itls a lot more intense than p90x cause its pretty much non stop moving. I'm always soaked by the end. Plus its only 40 minutes compared to how long p90x is.
I can't really sugarcoat it, but the 2nd month of Insanity is like P90X Plyo on steroids. The first month of Insanity has 40 minute workouts and they are brutal as well. The second month ups the workouts to around 50-60 minutes. There is no way you people can possibly do everything in the workout. Even the people in the video take breaks. You don't want to pause and try to do everything in Insanity. Sean T (the instructor in the videos) says to take breaks when you can't go anymore. Relax, and jump back in after you get a quick breather. It's pretty much built on interval training, so you're going at it for 3 minutes non-stop and then get a quick 30 second break. Those 3 minutes are brutal though. The moves are definitely more intense than P90X Plyo. Good thing about the first month is that the workouts are only 40 minutes long. They certainly make you go at it for those 40 minutes though. Can't hurt to try it out. It's doable and you'll get used to it just like you get used to P90X after a week or two.
I meant "there is no way people can possibly do everything in the workout." Not "you people." Makes it sound like I can and I'm a bad ass, which I'm not. Lol.
I'm starting to notice a huge difference in how I handle pullups and pushups. Also, my right hip is KILLING me after a lot of these workouts. I know I have some tightness in there, but the exercises are forcing me to do a lot of things to increase my flexibility and general ability with those joints/muscles.
- What are the odds that Tony and Dreya Webber are/were hooking up? Even odds? Big Brown 1-5 kind of odds? Bahahahaha.
Good job man. Anytime you train to lose fat, you will lose muscle. The inverse is also true. When I do leaning phases, I do my best to keep my testosterone up by doing a lot of sprinting and taking ZMA & glutamine powder. This will prevent some muscle loss. You also might want to consider doing some heavy weights in a gym for about a month so you don't burn out from your videos. Whatever works for you though!
I am beyond lazy to go to the gym at a set time everyday. I wish I wasn't, but I did find a modified P90X routine which pretty much cuts out all the cardio except for one day a week, and it's helped me gain about 4-5 lbs in the last 3 weeks. Going to keep at it and see how much I can continue gaining. I will keep the ZMA and glutamine powder in mind whenever I get back to a leaning phase. Thanks for the recommendation!
lol... Stackhouse does p90x!!! <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/XfnJwn21F_0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
How in shape were you guys before starting your first program? I'd like to get in on this, but I think I might be a ways from being able to complete it.
Nice results, although I'm not sure if I'm ready to part with my chest hair...side effect? I have very little chest hair....
Tomorrow is my halfway point. I'm going to celebrate with some plyo. I leisurely ran a couple miles after work today and then drank some of the recovery drink...I guess I hope it helps make plyo easier for me tomorrow. Probably wishful thinking I know...but I sooo want to finally break through that plateau and not get gassed in the second circuit. Maybe this will help. I'm also planning to drink a lot of water, get good and hydrated, and then stop an hr before the workout and just sip small amounts til it starts. When I drink a bottle 15 minutes before (like I usually do), I feel like I'm going to puke the whole time. I am SO much stronger than I was at the start of this thing. It's amazing to go into a set of pushups or yoga leg extensions or a crazy ab move not thinking I'll be able to do them, and then I shock the hell out of myself. Love it! The results ARE the motivation. BTW, did y'all know that the one-legged guy in Plyo is Rabbit from Super Troopers?
