Kyle Lowry? Is he just a solid starter of a rising star? The guy looks like he could become a triple double threat every night, he seems to have a nack for hitting end of the quarter shots and he plays solid if not very good defense. I know the safe bet is that he will just be a solid starting point guard but sometimes solid starting back-ups even become super stars. Steve Nash is a prime example of a player nobody thought would ever be a star much less a two time MVP during his first years with Phoenix or his first seasons in Dallas. Every night I see Lowry doing more and more plus he just seems to know when to turn on the jets. Kyle might be the biggest reason the Rockets are playing so well right now. So the question is up for debate.... just a very solid starter or a rising star?
Too early to tell. He's playing at star level this month, but how much longer can he play like that for the rest of the season and going into next season still needs to be seen.
Way too many of these "too early to tell", "not enough sample size" posts. Well yea, duh. If he already played like this for a whole season or two then there wouldn't be a need to ask the question. He wouldn't be a "rising" star. He would just be a star. Message boards are for speculating and I will speculate that he will be able to keep this up since he is young enough and has shown consistent improvement through consistent hard work even after getting his guaranteed contract holy run-on batman.
He can create for himself - check He can create for his teammates-check He is an above average defender-check He is active on his social media accounts- check Over dramatic wife or entourage- n/a Help from the stern clones- n/a That's a star. He just needs to work on the last two.
He is the next Chauncey Billups! Think About it! It took Chauncey a few years to blossom into the PG he is now! Kyle is on his way to being the floor general Chauncey is Kyle is getting clutch like Chauncey is and Kyle gives it his all every night like Chauncey does
20/8/5 This is his stats for the month, keep this up he's a star. 20 ppg would be 4th among PG, 5 boards would be #1 among PG, just get those assists up closer to 10 and he's a top PG.
Even rising star needs more time to prove the consistency. Don't ge me wrong, I do believe Lowry has the ability to be a star, and he's a lot more consistent than last year. Unlike AB, Lowry's game is full of impact. Rockets won't be nearly the same without him.
Sure been playing like a star this past month, if Lowry stays focused and keeps working on his jump shot and stays healthy (sign) I think he can be an all-star in the next 2 years. Like most of our players, if only he was just a bit taller/longer...
i believe he can be a star in the league, he is producing at that level right now. I think he has done it consistently enough to prove that it's no fluke - also having the trust of management is helping him play at his best...i firmly believe if he was closing the games where Aaron was bricking shots we'd be better off. The thing that i love most about his game at the moment is that when he is having an off shooting night, he is helping ijn other areas - assists, crashing the glass steals etc. his hustle and energy are first rate.
He probably won't be a Rocket if he's taller. He'll get drafted earlier and given the chance to succeed. I'm happy with a poor man's young Jason Kidd on this team.
Stars dominate the game. Until Lowry can show he can do that every now and then, I'll consider him to be borderline all-star.
Teams will start to adjust for him next season. IMO teams always have set defensive plans for some teams, for instance a few years ago in the playoffs, Phil Jackson said they were completely unprepared for a Rockets team without Yao, because all of their practicing was to defend a team with Yao, so far more focus on Bynum and Gasol and much less on dribble penetration (which is what Brooks did best). I'd imagine the same thing is here, only on a longer basis and with a lot more different teams.
Not sure he's a rising star yet but he definitely impacts the game more so in other areas than just scoring. I liked Aaron but with him and Martin playing on the same backcourt we gave way too many points. It's awesome that Lowry picked up his scoring and efficiently too, he's more inclined to hurt you beyond the 3 which helped us ship out an unhappy (and soon to be overpaid) Aaron Brooks. We'll see how he performs next year
Hasn't he already shown that he can do that every now and then? He has hit end of quarter shots, had 30 point scoring nights, completely carried the team at times and is a legit triple double threat.
