Good episode last night. Although his reason for leaving doesn't seem like it would be permanent thing to me. I mean Holly's dad could pass away, and BAM Michael could be back.

I really like the Idea of Will Ferrell replacing Michael. The last 4 episodes, should be epic with Will Ferrell, if true.

The way they set it up, her dad isn't really close to dying. She just realizes that he doesn't have many years left and wants to go live by/with him to enjoy the last years before he's on his deathbed.

And fyi Ferrell isn't going to be permanent. It should be a hilarious few episodes though.

You don't think Ferrell is getting a trial run for next season? Is it definite he isn't permanent?

From the moment they announced Carrell wasn't returning, I said they should give his replacement a test run at the end of this season.

The official stance is that its just guest appearances... can they afford Ferrell? Would Ferrell want to do a sitcom? I don't think so. I mean if the job is that hot then you'd think Steve Carrell would be like, "beep, beep, beep," back his career up, and stick with The Office right? Ferrell is the bigger draw no?

I don't know if it's definite but I don't think Ferrell would need a "trial run", and I just don't know why he would be interested in doing a sitcom, especially taking over for a generational character like Michael Scott ... unless he's bored with movies and wants to try something new for the fun of it.

you dont think that if ferrell wanted the role permanently the producers would instantly give it to him? you dont "test run" will ferrell for anything - he is a proven commodity and a movie star - and that is why he wouldnt do a sitcom and its also why carrell is leaving...more money in movies.

Dang, never thought to go foreign. I could see him or Jemaine bringing a different angle of incompetency to the branch.

Kiss any hopes of Arnett as replacement goodbye.

Will Arnett To Co-Star In NBC's Emily Spivey Comedy Pilot

NBC's untitled Emily Spivey comedy pilot is building a star-studded cast. Arrested Development alum Will Arnett has closed a deal to join Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph in the project, executive produced by Saturday Night Live honcho Lorne Michaels. The project, written by former SNL scribe Emily Spivey, is described as an irreverent look at parenthood through the POV of an acerbic working mother (Applegate) -– who never thought she’d be a mom -– along with her stay-at-home husband (Arnett) and opinionated parents.

Emmy nominee Arnett, who recently co-created/toplined Fox's comedy Running Wilde, had planned not to do a pilot this season despite being approached for several projects but liked Spivey's script. Arnett, repped by WME and Principato-Young, also has a relationship with Michaels as he has been recurring on the Michaels-produced NBC series 30 Rock.
