Interesting stuff on the Chronicle, highlights: Stuff in ( ) are my comments. - still non-commital about Adelman. - Encouraged by recent progress of team. Less willing to gut roster for a big name now. - He and Daryl fights about this all the time (I wonder who is on which side? My guess is Les is/was on the big name side since that's how he's operated for a while now - Drexler, Barkley, Pippen, Francis, McGrady). - the roster is young. Patrick, Kyle, etc all young. . Chuck also young. - even Yao is only 31. No reason he can't have 5 or 6 good years left. (I can think of a reason why he might not. But it seems Yao is gonna be a Rocket for at least one more comeback attempt) - Le-Xander had dinner with C-Hayes, who mentioned that they are playing well because everyone knows what to do. (How many $2 mi a year players have dinner with team owners? Seems Chuc will be a Rocket for a long time to come. May even be entombed under the home court floor when he dies. )
LOL, Carl Herrera rox!! ur a really funny guy. but im so glad to hear Chuck is part of the teams future plans....as for Yao....if you have a fan base of about 1 over billion, its a no brainer to not keep him even though he might not make it back all the way. the only thing that sux about him coming back is, it gives us false hope, to fix that, just have low expectations on him, i think pretty much everyone is having low expectations on him. if the price is right, sure please sign Yao up but not as a starting center but to win the 6th man award.
Having Yao for another year would be very interesting for Les at a cheap price, but Yao haters would have another painful year to suffer as you read some posts here. My impression is that the losers tend to hate, and find a way to hate, that is a way for expressing their feeling.
LOL...Funny title. I literally had no clue what this was about but figured...what the hell. Sounds like Morey and Les aren't on the same page, completely. Owners usually win those arguments.
I think it is a positive that they have arguments all the time. Shows that the owner is engaged in the operations and at the same time is open enough to ideas that his GM feel comfortable enough to argue with him regularly. I don't agree with all of their decisions but do trust them to have thought through ad researched their options when they make their decisions.
Agree, it's just interesting because Les has been portrayed as a fan and I think the time will come when a big decision will need to be made. If Morey and Les aren't on the same page, things could get VERY interesting.
Who wouldn't want to chill with Chuck? I'm glad to hear that Les is talking with Chuck and talking future. It will give me less stress this off season when they are talking contracts with him and Yao. Honestly, the difference is this... any new contract with Yao will have him as a part of the whole, not the focus of the whole. Originally the team was built around he and Tracy, that's not going to happen anymore. There isn't many/any players in the league that can do what he does on the court, so the team would be foolish not to attempt to bring him back as part of the team if he can play.
still don't see any feasible "star" targets this offseason..may Bargnani in exchange for Scola of course if available..Bargs can tandem with Chuck or Patpat.
The two signings aren't related. Signing Yao wouldn't preclude us from getting DeAndre. His restricted free agency is what precludes that.
Am I having reading comprehension issues or is the realgm writer having them? http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/212659/Morey_Looking_For_Star_Owner_Prefers_Status_Quo This re-posting of Feigan's artcile is titled "Morey looking for a star, Owner prefers status quo." This isn't at all what I got from the article... if anything it seems ambiguous to me as to which one of them is on which side of the argument. Of course, Les is saying what he says now, but his track record even in the pre-Morey years (again, Drexler, Barkley, Pippen, McGrady...) say Les likes his stars. On the other hand, Morey's approach has been to find undervalued players-- some of these are superstars whose salaries are artificially capped, but others range from Shane Battier to Courtney Lee to Ron Artest. Also, Carmelo Anthony just doesn't strike me as the kind of "superstar" that make Morey excited: too one dimensional, iso-happy and inefficient despite his obvious offensive skills.
