Inspired by this thread. Which famous people (no basketball players) have you randomly encountered? Here's my first three to start off.

    Jessica Alba
I was shopping for groceries in Austin a few years back, and she was in the cereal aisle. Very pretty and petite in person, but not as hot as I thought she'd be.

    Elena Kagan
At a coffee shop in DC near Dupont Circle. We were waiting to pick up our order, and everyone but her was typing on their BlackBerry so she stood out. Seemed like a nice lady.

    Lakshmi Mittal
I was working with an associate at one of our overseas office, and all of a sudden a hush fell outside in the hallway. Looking up, we both see him stroll into the conference room next door. Apparently he's a really funny guy, with a strange laugh.

Gaylord Perry, Ferguson Jenkins, and Rollie Fingers. Three Hall of Fame pitchers at one Cubs spring training game.

They were all signing bats, balls, and other memorabilia to be raffled off during the game. Rollie still had his signature 'stache; he looked like he was still in game shape. I ended up getting a picture with Fergie Jenkins. Also asked Gaylord how many times he was caught doctoring the ball in his career.

    And yes, the Cubs lost.

Scotty Nguyen WSOP world champion. Met him playing cards in Oklahoma at a casino that sponsored him. Very gracious and had a trademark Michelob in his hands.

several but two of the more funnier incidents

Cash Warren is a close friend of the owner of my company so Jessica Alba has come by on occasion when the two of them stop by to say hi to him. I was asked to come into the owners office to help with something one such time and I kept starting at Jessica to which the owner says "I know she is a pretty lady but you know she is married you can stop staring at her"

I was like damn we all had a good laugh at my expense, but Jessica was really nice.

Then I almost ran over Hayden Pannetiere (sp? the cheerleader from heroes)
i was driving down this back alley that runs parallel to a really busy street and she was walking across to her car and didnt see I was driving down the street and I had to slam on my brakes to stop. I wasnt going fast or anything since it was a back alley. But she got started when i stopped and looked at me and smile and she said she was sorry and wasnt paying attention. I asked her what DVDs she bought (she was coming out of the back entrance of a large DVD/blu-ray store) she said she got some criterion collection dvd she wanted.

I sat next to Orlando Bloom while waiting for a cab at the Chateau Marmont and didn't know it was him until I was getting in the cab.

Scotty Nguyen? That's awesome. Did he ever tell you "you call and it's over baby"?

I met Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell several years ago at a movie theater he was promoting 300 the movie. I saw Natalie Portman one time in the library during college. One time I ran into Guy Fieri at the Back Bay Hilton. I told him that I loved his DD&D show, he was very friendly. In that vein I saw Rachel Ray, Ming Tsai and some other celebrity chefs having drinks at this bar in Boston.

That's all I can think of right now.

Sorry to double up... met Lou Piniella at a bar in Danville CA in the early 80's. He was hitting on girls young enough to be his daughter, and in fact, stole one from one of the guys in my group. The WS ring he had one was flashed around pretty effectively that night

I know this is a basketball player but its a pretty cool story to tell. I met Shaquille O'Neal at all places in a SHONEYS INN in Houston like 10 years ago. We were there for my brothers AAU tourney. We get there and a guy tells us and says to go outside to look at his car. We see a green Bentley with a Chrome steering wheel with a huge Superman S in the middle. His seat was pushed all the way to the back seat where the backseat was taken out and had HUGE speakers all throughout the back. On the back of his Bentley he had another superman S on it and couldn't even get close to the car without a beep going off. So were hoping to actually somehow SEE Shaq. We go up to our room and people are in the lobby of that floor. There was people out in front of a door and im thinking NO WAY is this is room. It was.. room 312.. MY familys room was 316!!!! A day goes by and we hadn't seen him and at 1point we are getting off the elevator and there was a housekeeper about to knock on his door. I was with my parents and they said i could stay around to see if he came out. He walks out in his BRIEFS and looks into my eyes and he was the darkest and biggest dude i've ever seen. I looked past him and saw 2 beds pushed together long ways so his whole body could lay on the beds. (it was like a 10 ft bed when he put them together. Never got his autograph or anything but my bro met him. Heres what he told me.

He was with his friends on the team and they were staying on the same floor as well. He said they were acting up in the hall (at the time they were in 9th grade) and he came out of his room at this point was around 3 in the morning. He said him and his teammates ran to him and he was very nice and talked to them for a sec and then left. (one of the kids autographed a dollar bill and tried to give it to shaq and told him he would be famous like him one day haha). He said he left out and got in his car and left. My brother said his system was so loud when he was leaving the parking lot it shook the windows on the hotel. My dad actually has video footage of his car stashed away somewhere in our home video storage. Pretty crazy lol
