I mean let's be real, Brooks was hot garbage this year and shot us out of many games while providing no semblance of defense, not to mention poisoning the team with his selfish play and contract dispute.

Battier on the other hand was a zero offensively yet he started every game. Even Memphis' coach knows better than to start him, and has freaking Sam Young starting over Shane.

Brooks/Battier cost us wins this season, the question is how many?

Add Hill/Miller/Bud to that list as well. Aldeman insisted with Hill for ages before realising Patterson is way way better, this was only recently. He did the same with Miller and just recently has decided to sit his worthless butt down. And he gave Bud ample of minutes to be inconsistent while Lee was was doing his thing.

Lee, Pat, Dragic our best defenders hardly got any time tonight, while Bud one of our worst defendors played 37 minutes. Result, Miami dumped 130 on us.

Thank GOD Morey traded Brooks, other wise we would still be losing winable games. Aldemans stupid rotations has cost us at least - at the very least 5+ games.

How many wins did the Red Rowdies cost us this season? I speculate that 26.7% of our home losses are due to the Rowdies alone!

Both were hot garbage, Shane just happens to have a handful of apologists that make it their mission to clean up his mess. Brooks didn't play a lick of defense, and Battier was one of the most offensively challenged starting SFs I've ever seen in the league. His defense clearly regressed, as he had a negative on-court/off-court net opponent eFG% this season for the first time in his career.

    Brooks, Battier, Yao, Adelman, Morey....

The search for a scapegoat for this season continues.

Enough to give the Grizzlies the headstart they needed.

I think that you guys need some size and athletic ability. If I were you, assuming you guys go to the lottery (there are worse things you know) anyway, I'd take a long look at Jan Vesely and Donatas Motiejunas. These guys will help. I'd stay far awaw from Kemba Walker.

This is not the perfect solution because you guys really need to add a good perimeter defender, this is why Kevin Martin is such a tough piece to build around. It was the same with us and OJ Mayo. When you have a scoring 2 that doesn't play defense it throws your whole team out of whack.

Anyway, Vesely and Motiejunas offer you guys size and quickness in the post, something you guys are in desperate need of.

Brooks is pretty much Scola/Martin tier, but worse at defense.

He gives up more point that he scores most of the games. MOST IMPORTANTLY, HE CAN'T PASS.

    Let's do some math.

    Yao cost us 5 games.
Battier cost us 3 at least.
    Brooks cost us 5.
Adelman at least 10 from his "horrible subsitutions"
Morey at least another 10 due to his "not finding a center"

The Rockets should be a 60-70 win team if only we get rid of all our cancers. Flawless logic. :)

Back at your question. How many games did Battier help us win?

    Same can go toward Brooks.

Yup, basketball is a team sport.

That is, until the team starts losing.

Let's face it. Battier for all of his Basketball IQ, was not ideal for a team like the Rockets. He was brought in to help out McGrady and Yao go to the next level.

With McGrady out and Yao again on the injury bug; that relegated Battier to a coach on the floor.

I will cut Battier a break in regards to this season. He did a great job establishing a culture on the Rockets. Hayes, Lowry, and Budinger all elevated their level of play - Budinger is playing so much better and is a solid starter. Battier is Obama's buddy; that has to carry some level of respect among the NBA culture.

Brooks on the other hand didn't get the contract extension he wanted, and that messed up with his play. He then got injured, and he could not elevate his play to last season quality.

Battier, Brooks, Yao probably cost the Rockets some games. But had the original experiment worked out, it was worth the Risk.

    Yao/Hill
    Scola/Hayes
    Battier/Budinger
    Martin/Lee
    Brooks/Lowry

That team looked very good to start the season. It just never panned out due to injuries.

I KNOW Brooks cost us at least 3.

Rick let his pet kill us down the stretch of some games with his chucking and turnovers.

why??? It's not like he's had any kind of success guarding Wade or Lebron or Kobe or any swingman worth mentioning in the last couple years. At least C-Bud chipped in 16 points. Battier was offering nothing.

I think that would be the wrong to look at it. However playing around with numbers? Lets take the average of your numbers each situation or player cost us.

That comes out to 6.6 games on average each situation may have contributed. So lets say none of them happened. Heck lets even take out the Morey and Adelman equations that account for a huge chunk. Mostly because those two cant be changed. That comes out to 4.5 games on average Yao, Battier, and Brooks cost us. You add 4.5 wins to our team and we are in the playoffs. Thats just using the average and not adding up the games.:)
