I think people tend to forget how important Deke would have been on that team. I still believe today had Yao and Deke stayed healthy during the playoffs, I think they could have won the whole thing that year.

07 season could have landed them in the WCF against the Spurs.

    Agree 100%.

Here is one of the best mixes I've seen of T-mac on Youtube. Man he was a damn good player here in Houston.

Link? Considering his bad luck and playoff disappointments, not once have i heard that he wanted to leave Houston. He only left Houston cause he was furious of his lack of playing time. I think he loved Houston. Prove me otherwise

Still as cool as ever to see that comeback.
To borrow from the great Chuck Hayes...when he was healthy, he was a bad boy.

Tracy and Yao will always get the most blame for not advancing, perhaps deservedly so, but to me they always stepped it up the best they could come playoffs. I guess you could make the argument that the supporting cast wasn't as good/developed as guys we have now. A healthy Yao & Tracy surrounded by Lowry-Martin and Scola.

    Playoff averages in 04-05...
    Tracy- 30.7ppg 7.4rpg 6.7apg
    Yao- 21.4ppg 7.7rpg 2.7bpg

    In 06-07...
    Tracy- 25.3ppg 5.9rpg 7.3apg
    Yao- 25.1ppg 10.3rpg 1.1bpg

What made McGrady different to the other players we had was probably the Jordan effect.

Every fan and team wanted their own Jordan-est player, since he was the most entertaining player in the history of Basketball. There weren't a lot of players compared to Jordan, and McGrady was one of the few players compared to him during his best years. Houston were one of few teams to grab a "Jordan-est" player, and that had a huge impact on fans.

The high expectations were understandable, and unfortunately we could not take advantage of Yao and McGrady's best years.
