Brief rockets mention after the spurs epic choke job today.

Afterward, Ginobili compared Friday’s debacle to the 2005 loss to Houston, when Tracy McGrady scored 13 points in 33 seconds. Parker recalled Derek Fisher’s 0.4-shot to send the Lakers over the Spurs in Game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference finals.

    “Nothing was worse than that,”

And with that , I have an excuse to embed the most overposted video of all time on this forum. Never gets old though.

Seriously I will never forget watching this the day it happened, so amazing.

Makes me kind of miss Tmac, till I think back at all of his shenanigans, and then see him now vs getting Kevin Martin, then I'm over it.

It's unbelievable who is the surrounding cast.

You can't honestly say not advancing was McGrady's fault when Marv Albert is calling Reece Gaines and Andre Barrett down the stretch.

We should consider ourselves lucky that we were as good as we were in those days.

Tracy had talent. But he's one of those types of players where you need to be successful early on, or he's going to get pissed off and leave.

We should have gotten past the 1st round in 04-05.
We should have gotten further in 06-07 and 07-08 (Jazz... :/)
We should have had a healthy big three in 08-09 (Mac-Artest-Yao)

So many chances... :( Nobody's fault there, just unfortunate.

You know, I am not defending the guy, BUT..

I think most people either don't realize, or juts don't remember, that TMac never went to college. He never even REALLY went to high school.

He came directly from 'High School', but the high school was really one of those 'basketball puppy mills' in which all they ever really do is play basketball games and tournaments and only a sham of classes, learning, and getting almost no exposure to 'real life' at all.

You take a child, literally a child, who has some phenomenal basketball skill, and place him into a life of privilege and entitlement.

And then place him into situations where all the pressure in the world is on his shoulders, entire cities either loving him or hating him depending on the bouncing of a basketball.

He had some successes, but overall more failures.

So this supremely talented child ends up with the stink of failure on him, and he has literally no framework in place on how to deal with it, no maturity based on EVER having to overcome legitimate hardhips of any kind really, and people are surprised that he flames out and has to relocate?

Personally, I am amazed he has done as well as he has overall.

Like I said, I am not excusing or defending his bum behavior.

I am just saying, imagine if he had actually gone to a real high school, been recruited by all the top colleges, and wound up going to UNC or Duke, and actually learned to become a man before being given millions of dollars and taught that he doesn't HAVE to be a man?

What if he has Grant Hill's or Shane Battier's maturity and brains inside that other-worldly talented body?

Could have been talking about one of the greatest of all time basketball players.

I don't really hate the guy as much as I feel sorry for him, and all I see is that his career has been such a monumental waste.

    Sigh.

    Oh well.

I think its old. People use it as example of how Tmac was clutch when this was the only time he exhibited anything close to it. It was a regular season game and there was pressure since we were getting our butts kicked for almost the entire game.

Man, the days where T-Mac was at his best, Yao was the center of the future...

I love our team, but with Yao and T-Mac you knew you were just a few roleplayers away from winning the title. Alas, we never got anybody on time before Yao/Mac's bodies fell apart.

A superstar wingman and imo the most dominant center at the time. Hard to believe I took these moments for granted.

    Favorite thing about that era?

the times when the Rockets were up by 2-6 pts and the other team looked like they might be coming back...and T-Mac would finish em off with 3-4 straight buckets and send their asses home with an L.

You sure it's not going up 2-0 on the jazz and dallas and choking away both series at home.
