Center/PF from Sactown. Not playing as many minutes this year due to Demarcus Cousins coming to town. Young player with range on his shot. 6'11 250lbs and a good athlete for his size. A poor man's Lamarcus Aldridge. Could be had on the cheap. Thought he did well last year as a sophomore averaging 12.5ppg and 8.5rpg. Not a huge shot blocker, but would give us some much needed size and length. I suppose the argument could be made that he isnt playing much on a terrible team, but this draft is amazingly weak and I wouldnt mind trading a pick or two for him.
I don't see him as an out and out shot blocking C and that's what we need - Hill Patterson are our younf PF and we have scola so we don't need him. i'd prefer Dalembert if we could get him on the cheap because he would at least block or change shots
Actually I'll man up and just say while while I'd prefer Jordan or Gasol, I actually don't know much about Thompson and his style of play. Just saying I guess it would be a I-Don't-Know on Thompson from me.
Watching Bogut manhandle the knicks today has convinced me that he is THE missing piece for a rockets 2012 championship. Tough, tall, block shots and most impressive to me, has Elite Bigman passing skills, which makes him perfect for this offence and complement of players. Dream scenario: package patterson+martin(they need scoring) and all four picks we have this year for Bogut and Drew goodens horrific contract.
If Morey brings in DeAndre Jordan... Adelman better be gone because I seriously doubt Jordan would see the floor if RA was still the coach here.
That's a nightmare scenario, not a dream scenario Bogut is good but not worth Martin AND Patterson AND 4 picks...Even if he is the "missing piece" we need, no way I'd do that. Maybe Martin straight up but I'm sure the contracts don't match up.
Big fan of Jason Thompson. With some more development and put in the right environment, he'd be great as a bench PF/C in an 8-man rotation. I don't think he'd be a starter on a really good team though. Unless Scola gets moved, we don't have room for him.
i will pass. thompson is a face up post player. meaning he scores mainly from taking jumpshots. not really a back to the basket type post. we are better off with hayes at C.
Don't like Thompson. Plays dumb as far as I can remember. I always make a point to watch him when we play the Kings. He is a small school kid (Ryder I think) and I always wanted Houston to draft him. We need a big shot blocker. About Bogut, he would be a great fit for us. But I would not sell the farm to get him. 2011 first rounders(Both ours and the pick from PHO) + Terrence Williams+Brad Miller+ Jordan Hill for Bogut.
why are we even talking about trades when the trade deadline is over like more than a month ago? things are now uncertain with the lockout coming up, i think teams are going to be cautious after this and just wait until after both sides come to an agreement. then i think our main concern will be hiring a new coach but i do hope RA gets extended at least another 3yrs or is given a contract with that duration. then its to resign Hayes. we will also see what Yao has to offer. then we will see what we can offer for a center, Marc Gasol looks good, DeAndre too or maybe tyson chandler but we have a good chance with Gasol since Memphis is looking to pay Zach a lot they might have problems keeping Gasol. or we can wait a little longer for D. Howard to come here
Haven't seen much of his game, but your description makes him sound like a reincarnation of Brad Miller. So no.
