MyFoxHouston.Com Article---McLane Interview Today: States Jim Crane, 2 Others Trying Hard to Buy Astro http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/mlb/110325-mclane-crane,-2-others-trying-hard-to-buy-astros
I just want a baseball guy with pretty deep pockets, Crane obivously knows baseball and seems to have deep pockets.
Scoop is saying that Uncle D wants $800MM for the 'stros, unreal! Especially after the Rangers just went for $527MM and the recent Forbes valuation. I know it's just a target, but could they possibly go for $600+MM with the new TV deal and the low contract commitments?
Didn't MLB block Crane's attempt to buy the Rangers even though he had the better offer? Was that just because they wanted Nolan to get the team or was there another reason?
Maybe teaming with Cuban hurt his chances with the Rangers. The issue now could be...is Cuban involved in this deal for the Astros? If so (I hate Cuban but would love it if he owned one of my favorite teams), does that hurt Crane's chances again?
It seems that Drayton wants to get rid of the Disastros.... couldn't help myself  He's seen a nice jump in his initial investment, it won't be the first time he sold out for the money. See Wal-Mart.... Buy low sell high... That's what everyone wishes they could do; at least that is the concept of my finance classes in college. Kudos to Drayton if he solidifies his list on the Billionaires list. I know right now he is on the list, but with the sale, it's legit with the money in the bank.
I have the same feeling. Although, a part of me really can't imagine the Astros with out Drayton....always felt like it was never going to happen.
I had been waiting so long for the fire sale and the change of ownership. Looks like these things are going to happen in less than a year for the Astros. Ultimately I've moved on from this team, but it's going to be interesting to see how well they do (and draft) in the next few years.
"Fire sale"? What assets do they have left that would even qualify for a "fire sale"? Hello and welcome to last year. The Astros are rebuilding. Finally.
