I can't believe I'm doing this but I'm going to defend her about this. I've been fascinated by this entire phenomenon of how people bash and bash something for how awful it is and should be abolished from earth but in doing so, only bring more attention to it. I believe it can be categorized under the Barbara Streisand effect. From Wikipedia: In this case, the internet is Barbara Streisand and the photos are this song. As far as this goes: She was on Leno this week (I don't watch Leno but saw that she was on and looked it up on hulu) and she said she was donating the proceeds for the earthquake victims. Well after all that, I feel like this guy: Spoiler
Manufacturing idols from scratch has never really worked in my opinion, it only backfires, like Rebecca Black. If you look at the top pop music artists today, you still see talented people at the top. People like Bruno Mars, Eminem, Cee-lo, Pink etc. are very talented singers and artists. Even the so called teen poppers like Miley Cyrus got famous because of Hanah Montana, and Bieber started out as a nobody on youtube and can play multiple instruments at a young age. People like Rebecca Black will never really get any attention and airplay unless they are really really really really bad.
I agree for the most part, but then Brittany Spears seems to have zero talent and isn't exceptionally attractive yet blew up for a time. The music wasn't even catchy.
Normally I would agree with you, but this particular song is just so HORRIFIC that I just want her DEAD.
But you forgot (and I can't believe I know this...ugh) that Britney Spears was on the Mickey Mouse Club along with Kerri Russell, JC Chasez, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera. Rebecca Black, to my knowledge, was never on a TV show before she had her "breakthru".
What? Back in the day, she was really good looking, and that 1st song of hers was catchy - this is coming from someone who despises 99% of Top 40 material. Circa 1999
What's wrong with the Black Eyed Peas. You can't say they have no musical talents. Their songs are catchy and great for clubs. And Will I Am produces most of the beats. Same goes for Far East Movement and G6.
Yeah, Brittany had talent and she was very attractive when she started to hit it big. Once she made it, then talent became less of an importance because of studio magic and because they dance so much at live concerts that they rely heavily on pre-recorded vocal tracks. If you want to talk about somebody who had no talent and wasn't particularly attractive, then talk about Ashlee Simpson. I mean, she had a TV show where they showed how much she sucked and how they were manufacturing her career and the mindless tweens still ate it up anyway.
Colbert does Rebecca Black's Friday Well, not just Colbert. Epic, to say the least. <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" id="dmlkZW9faWQ9MTMxNzU1Mw" width="512" height="354" align="middle"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.nbc.com/assets/video/5-0/swf/DirectWidget.swf?CXNID=1000004.10045NXC&widID=4727a250e66f9723&configXML=http://www.nbc.com/service/videowidget/params/dmlkZW9faWQ9MTMxNzU1Mw==/"/><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><embed src="http://www.nbc.com/assets/video/5-0/swf/DirectWidget.swf?CXNID=1000004.10045NXC&widID=4727a250e66f9723&configXML=http://www.nbc.com/service/videowidget/params/dmlkZW9faWQ9MTMxNzU1Mw==/" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="512" height="354" align="middle" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object> Original song for those who haven't seen it... but I don't recommend it: Spoiler <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CD2LRROpph0?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CD2LRROpph0?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

Proof that many people like this song. Really, seriously I still don't understand why people hat this song so much. It doesn't make sense or is banal, who cares, it's catchy and fun to dance to. If I were Rebecca Black, I'd put out another one just like this one. f the internet idiots.
I think people really did like Rick Astley Never Gonna Give You Up song despite the RickRolling. I don't think people really "like" this Friday song, its just that people can easily leech off her 15 minutes of fame to get even MORE attention and fame on themselves. They do just end up flattering her instead of ridiculing it, maybe thats part of it.
Good stuff. Here's my non-humorous effort: <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/j8YLCyZAM74" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
i feel bad for that guy that he didn't really "make it". seems like a good guy, and he has a helluva voice, imo. makes sense...he's obviously too good/not suited for the pop ***** that's expected from american idol winners.
