My old boss is up to it again. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Chavez-says-capitalism-may-rb-3915449179.html?x=0&.v=1
I disagree with El Presidente - locally, I believe the lack of interest & further posting ended the brief "Life on Mars" fad of early 2009, despite a brief revival in July of that year. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=172196 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=161123 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=161135 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=160945 However, low ratings, lack of advertiser interest, and hence capitalism, were ultimately responsible for its demise. So he's correct in that sense.

Chavez is a dictator, doncha know so he isn't allowed to joke like that. Pretty silly to take that seriously. Not a very effective anti-Chavez piece.
He clearly believes what he is saying, but I can understand how you might want to deflect this. I would gamble, aside from many other things, Chavez doesn't know the first thing about geology, based on other comments in that piece. Of course, saying ridiculous, hyperbolic B.S. about the US fits his narrative.
Chavez was clearly joking. I guess I can't expect much of a sarcasm meter from folks who have had years of indoctrination that Chavez is a dictator and Mubarak, the King of Saudia Arabia etc. are good fellows and essentially democrats and believers in human rights. Actually the real issue is whether capitalism will end life on earth. Please explain how we can stop climate change while worshipping at the altar that the main orgainizing principle of human society should be to maximize corporate profits in the next quarter? --that virtually any interference with this first princple is a crime against nature (like trying to repeal the law of gravity) or even (I'm not kidding!) immoral per some market fundies
Capitalism v. Socialism? Just like Democrats v. Republicans; Liberals v. Conservatives; etc. A moderate stance must be taken. Capitalism has it's evils...
