Too paranoid about losing my wallet and any cash that's inside, so I only carry it when I know for sure that I'll need it. Otherwise it's credit cards for me.

I don't during the week but pull cash out for the weekends, which is when we usually go out, that why I don't have a crapload of receipts from various places.

I've had the same two $20 bills in my wallet for the past year and a half. I keep it just in case, but I have rarely needed to use cash. Credit Card rewards FTW. I'll use the credit card for jelly beans just to get the cash back. I've been keeping a couple dollars on me or in the Glove compartment ever since my debit card was declined on Prom night..

I always carry stacks of $100 bills. I make an honest attempt to "make it rain" everywhere I go.

I typically carry $100-$200 in 20s, 10s, 5s, and plenty of 1s... comes in handy for tipping, cabs, parking meters, etc.

Unfortunately my wife knows this and thus never carries her own cash... so i've become her de facto ATM machine.

    sad panda.

I'm shocked by the results of this poll so far. I thought regular cash-carriers would be far fewer.

Always carry cash for whenever I make smaller purchases at mom and pop shops, and other small businesses. They get charged around 3% of the transaction for charging a credit card.

Cash all the way man. The haircutters, dry cleaners, coffee shops, and most of the bars in my neighbood only accept cash.

That's the cost of doing business these days. They need to offset those costs somehow.

I use my Chase Debit card quite frequently since I've racked up like 20,000 points enough for like 200+ cash money but they're discontinuing the program due to Congress. I forgot what it was exactly, but something along the lines that merchants are getting charged alot more since these programs encourage us to use our cards alot more.

I will carry $200-300. I use my card all the time so the cash lasts me a long time. I don't even have an ATM card. When I go eat lunch with my co-workers, if they all pay cash I'll pick up the cash and put it on my card to refresh.

When you compete with bigger businesses who are usually offering cheaper prices due to their volume and scale, raising your prices to absorb some/all of that cost is not going to help you survive.

Rarely. Even places where tips are normal there is a tip line on the receipt. Plus I hate buying something with cash and it ends up being a cost of like $5.03 and I am stuck with .97 cents of loose change jingling in my pocket.

    That's true, and it's sad.

But isn't innovation a law of survival? There are plenty of new companies making a niche for themselves, then even bringing the big companies down (Netflix comes to mind), then finally becoming the big company themselves.

People use credit cards. I made a decision to not eat at a local diner today because I would have to get cash out to do so. It's reality.

Me too. I usually get $200 from the ATM when I'm totally out. I mostly use cash for purchases under $10 (lunch, etc.) so it lasts me a few weeks. I feel odd whipping out a card for tiny purchases; a few places have purchase minimums for card use as well due to fees imposed onto them by card companies.

I always carry six 20s with me, never know when you're gonna need 200 bucks.
