Why do you blame "Texas" for your driving habits that have accumulated tickets? Did you move to a state with relaxed driving laws? (please say Cali so I can LOLers at you)

I have lived in Houston for a really long time , and I have now been in California for a long time.

Are you happy that I am in California and feel this way? Is this something that you really want to debate Josh? bring it

Silly to blame the police for not patrolling the exact block in a single neighborhood at the exact time a robbery took place. While I agree that SL cops are probably better trained to hand out traffic tickets, the robbery had nothing to do with the lack of training.

Its the 2nd time in the same neighborhood since January. And they have been called in before that for another suspected robbery...

So you moved to Cali because the crime rate and the traffic laws were too strict for you here in Texas. Radical bro relocation is a b****. But when and where did you try to buy crack from a 12 year old in Texas? That's a shame, hope you are on the way to recovery in California. The weather is beautiful for sure.

Defending Texas does not equal defending SLPD. I agree with most of what has been said.

that's the point if the cop is pulled over writing a ticket for BS violations, they are not available for other crimes. Even if this neighborhood is 2 minutes away, what good does that do if detective barney fife, has got some teens pulled over in violation of a slightly obstructed license plate?

It says on the bottom 'Mike calvert toyota', and the plate that mike calvert put on part of the 'm' is covering the bottom of the license plate.. and you can't see the ground on the picture of the horse in the background of the texas plate. Clear violation. Even better if they can find a smidgens of mar1juana seed in the floorboard, they get to go back to base and chill all night writing reports.

tied up in trivial BS collecting revenue for the city instead of protecting and serving. Police state with no police. gotta love it.

There was a 12 year old named little D that used to live next door.We would shoot hoops with him. He sold 'cheese' as he called it. The neighborhood was fondren and west airport area where there is a police substation right by. If you don't stop at the end of the road all the way and use your indicator, don't have on music or tinted windows, obstructed license plate or god forbid an expired inspection sticker ,you might be lucky to not get pulled over. Little D and his customers ('stangs' as he calls them) all the while will be drinking there 40's (public alchohol consumption) slanging cheese(public crack drug sales) right in front of the cop that's pulled you over.I mean right there.

as for crime yes fondren and west airport was pretty darn nasty compared to not having to lock my doors or worry about little d and his boyz breaking into my car again and again.

I want you to know that the fondren and west airport area does not equal Texas. Not even close. That would be like me turning this around on you and saying "California sucks, I lived in Compton and got shot all the time so I moved to Texas where there is less crime." Well yeah, you lived in a high crime area. It just doesn't make sense to me to equate that to the whole state.

It's prob some Asian who cleverly has disguised himself to look like a black male.

You just don't stand up to an armed black man without being shot or harmed in someway.

Everytime I go out to sugarland all I see is Pigs riding their little bikes.

The cops in Sugar Land actually are only a small part of why it sucks. You'll find cops in most suburbs behave in a similar manner (see Round Rock and Williamson Co.) The main reason Sugar Land sucks is that it's a sterile, lifeless place laden with strip malls and chain restaurants.

Dude your DEAD F@#$@# Wrong... Now I might be biased because I grew up near Sugar Land but it's a wonderful place to raise your kid and start of life beyond those younger years. Now if your in your Teens, 20's then Pretty much all of Houston sucks for that matter.. Move to Austin, NY, San Fran, Tokyo,Sidney, Singapore, Amsterdam, Berlin etc...

Three men who broke into a home near Sugar Land Wednesday had to dodge flying bullets when the homeowner they tied up managed to free himself and retrieve a gun.

The incident happened shortly before noon on Rivercoach Lane in the New Territory subdivision, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the robbers, brandishing handguns, forced their way into the home and tied up two adults who were inside.

After the men ransacked the home and stole firearms and electronics, one of the victims freed himself and fired several shots at the men, who apparently were not hit.

Following leads in the case, detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Rafael Jaurez-Rosas, 25, who faces an aggravated robbery charge.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to call the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office at 281-341-4665 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477.

I lived in Texas for nearly 30 years and received a total of 2 tickets... one of which was dismissed and the other was a $50 fine...

Maybe the issue is you and not the police.... not that I am Mr. Law Enforcement, but the cops in Houston are no worse than other major cities I have lived in.

The issue is in the approach and focus on revenue strategy.

In California (I'm in San Diego) the revenue strategy from the city is in DWI arrests and parking violations. They have all kinds of meter maids and if you park in a 2 hour zone for 1 minute longer you will get hammered.

In Texas and Houston there are less people in more cars. So the strategy is revenue through worthless petty violations and being pulled over.

I was pulled over on Dixie Farm road one time because 'It was real late'

I was pulled over in Lubbock for failure to indicate. Didnt pay the ticket and then had a warrant issued. paid the warrant then got pulled over for barely expired inspection. The guy ran my record and supposedly the warrant was still active even though I had receipts and check stub. They let me out quickly but not after having to pay for my car to get impounded.

I have been harassed for going 70 in a 70 (it was supposedly '65 at night') and I have been pulled over for tinted windows when the tint was fine. That's happened in Huntsville and Alief.

Been pulled over for front license plate missing and obstructed license plate both in the city of Meadows (talk about police state) and the police death traps around hwy 6 and westheimer along with all of Harwin to Alief Clodine- I double dare you to drive there with a broken tail light or be black at 2AM anywhere near hedwig village.

Lived in Dallas and it was no different... Umm all of Texas is a police state. There are great things about Texas and nothing like a hot piece of tail from the south. But the police state in Texas is ridiculous.

If the cops are focused on revenue collecting via stops how can they be available for real crimes?
